A Note from the President
Dear PPRA Members,

It's impossible to walk the streets of Philadelphia without noticing a mural. You can practically hear the Bandstand-era music as you pass South Philly Musicians Remix. The iconic Common Threads makes you stop and ponder what unites us across the centuries. And a rooftop Love Letter can instantly bring a smile to your face. More than just beautiful works of art, these murals inspire and ignite change.

The driving force behind it all is the unbelievably dynamic Jane Golden. As founder and executive director of Mural Arts Philadelphia, she has helped bring to life more than 3,800 works of public art in our city. And by partnering with nonprofit organizations, city agencies, schools, philanthropies, and others, she has created a collaborative process that brings communities together while transforming public spaces.

I sincerely hope you will join us on November 3rd as we honor Jane Golden with our 2016 Gold Medal award . I am so pleased to recognize Jane for her lifelong commitment to public art projects with a purpose, and for turning the national and international spotlight on Philadelphia through this powerful work.  We have a fantastic line-up of speakers as well as an opportunity for attendees to make their mark on a special mural created just for the occasion. You won't want to miss it! Please consider serving as a sponsor of the event, too.

Lastly, don't forget to bring a donation of accessories for our 2016 Philly PRoactive partner, Career Wardobe. Your ties, jewelry, handbags, and scarves will help Career Wardobe outfit, educate, and empower thousands of job seekers across Southeastern Pennsylvania.

There are so many people and organizations doing good work in our city. I hope you feel as proud as I do to play a small part in honoring these worthy individuals and groups through PPRA.

Best,
Ashley Berke
2016-2017 President
Philadelphia Public Relations Association
