Sukkah Dedication

If you look to your left as you come down the corridor to the Chapel, you will see our Sukkah and its garden gradually taking form, day by day.  We will dedicate it for Sukkot and we want to invite everyone to participate in the joy.

There is an old tradition of inviting ushpizin, guests, into the Sukkah.  We would like every person in Shir Chadash to be one of our ushpizin and to fill the Sukkah with their wisdom.  So please, send us a photograph of you - it can be an individual or a family shot - plus a short piece - 20 words or less - of your wisdom.  It can be something a member of your family used to say, perhaps, or a principle by which you live.  We will laminate the photos, put the wisdom on the back of them and hang them in the Sukkah as our very first decorations.

Please get your photographs and wisdom to Danielle NO LATER THAN ROSH HASHANAH so that we all have time to prepare.

And please mark your calendars for our two dedication events:

Opening Cocktails - Wednesday evening October 4 - 6:45pm Services, cocktails (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and snacks.

Friday Night Sukkah Dinner - Friday October 6 - Services 6:15pm, dinner after - $25 per person ($15 for children under 10, free for children under 3)

We can't wait to share the joy of Sukkot with you.  (And we will be emailing you very soon about our High Holyday services!)

Lisa Finkelstein, President
Rabbi Deborah Silver

New Babies Blessing
BLESSING FOR NEW BABIES

As is our custom, we will be offering a special Aliyah to the Torah on Shabbat Bereishit (14 October) for families who have had new arrivals since last Shabbat Bereishit!  Please join us, and Rabbi Silver will offer you and your little ones a special blessing.  Older siblings are very welcome too!
