Mercy---St. Therese of Lisieux---Volunteer Week A
|
|
Dear St. Isidore Families,
The school year is now in full swing! The teachers are busy teaching, and the students are busy learning! Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held October 3rd - 6th for all grades, TK–8th. Students in grades 3–8 will attend conferences with their parent(s). It will be a noon dismissal for all students during the scheduled conference days. We ask that you be on time for your conference, be open, be honest, and be respectful. Kids Konnection will be open as normal. Listed below are a few helpful tips for the year ahead.
1. Keep up with your child’s academic accomplishments on a weekly basis. Praise those accomplishments appropriately.
2. Communicate with the school regularly. When you have a concern or question, write a note or email the teacher. We need you on our team!
3. Think ahead to questions or concerns you may want to discuss at your teacher Conference.
Parent Volunteers Needed!:
Parent volunteers offer a huge resource and support base for our school. Classroom and campus volunteering is a great way to start earning your PEP hours and engaging with your child’s teacher and classmates. There are many opportunities available in the Volunteer section in the newsletter. You are welcome to volunteer for all grades, not just your child’s specific classroom. We particularly need extra help in first and second grades.
Challenge Success
: Last Friday, several of the staff went to a Challenge Success weekend workshop. It was AWESOME!!! This process will help us ensure that our school is set up for maximum student success. This fits well with our Catholic school ideal of an education in which we develop the whole child to help them grow into happy, responsible, well-adjusted adults who give back to the community. It is vital that our children/students get PDF (playtime, downtime, family time) regardless of their ages or what grade they are in. Please look for more information to come on the parent night we will host in early 2018. Thank you to our team, Mr. Darnell, Mrs. Devine, Miss Devine, Mrs. Castillo, Mrs. Anderson (parent rep), Miss Lettire, and Mrs. Torretta, for giving your personal time to help better our students and school.
Carpool:
We realize that carpool is challenging at times. Adjustments are being made to ensure everyone’s safety and cooperation during carpool, especially at pick-up time. Please remember that your patience and kindness is always appreciated. Thank you to those moms and dads who get out of their cars to assist when needed. We encourage new families to take their lead from others who have been here for many years and know the carpool process. Remember that we are all in this together and that we should give everyone the benefit of the doubt, especially in our own school community.
Calendar Change:
Please make the following change to your school year calendar: Monday, December 18
th
will be a 12:00 p.m. dismissal.
Staff News:
Our Technology Coordinator Mrs. Park will be leaving St. Isidore to take a position as an Instructional Course Designer in San Ramon. She will miss everyone very much and asks that if you have any Yearbook pictures, please either email them to
yearbook@stisidore.org
or upload them to the appropriate location on Google Drive (link in parent portal). She also requests that you email any photos for Instagram to
instagram@stisidore.org.
Mrs. Mangano, one of our third grade teachers, and her husband are expecting their second child in February. We are so happy for them. Best of luck to both of our beloved staff members.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Maria Ward

Volunteer Opportunities -
Please click on the link below to take a look at volunteer opportunities for this school year. It truly takes a village to make all of our events occur and run smoothly. Thank you in advance for your consideration in signing up to help with one of our amazing fundraisers!
Teacher appreciation once a month all year long! Please take a look at this NEW opportunity to show your appreciation for our amazing teachers this year! It's simple! Sign-up for our YARD DUTY position today! Sign - up one time or as many times as you can. Help us show our teachers how much we appreciate them in this fun and easy way throughout the year!
One Thursday a month we would like to give our teachers the chance to have lunch together. Currently, they take turns having lunch because someone must always stay with the students. Yard Duty Volunteers would allow our hardworking teachers to enjoy one lunch a month with their teaching team. The signup hours vary depending on the grade, but the duration will be 1 hour. Please consider signing up at least once this year to help show our teachers how much we appreciate them!

employed by a company that supports matching dollars,
we encourage you to use this benefit to help make a
difference for the school.
Please remember that we need everyone to donate $500
per child to close this year’s gap in our operating budget.
Every dollar counts, and your donation is 100% tax
deductible, so please make a difference.

Scrip News...
The Scrip Team is always working to keep up with changes in our community. Keeping that in mind, we are moving Smart & Final from the Special Order page to the front of the Scrip Order Form. We now have Smart & Final available as Scrip on hand. No more waiting patiently to shop with Smart & Final Scrip! Yeah!!!! Consequently, in order to make room for Smart & Final, Ruth's Chris has been moved to the back of the Scrip Order Form. It will still be available for Special Order purchase but it will be a short 1-week wait to get it.
On a less happy note, Chevron has been discontinued at the Scrip distribution center. Hopefully, we will get it back but for now, only a limited quantity are available for purchase. So, order your Chevron now! Once I run out, I cannot order it again.
Thank you for shopping with Scrip!!!
