A Message from Steve Sanders

Monthly Motivation:

Often, I hear the phrase "be a leader, not a follower" told to students. I agree, everyone should attempt to be a leader. A leader of themselves! However, we have to teach our young people to become the right type of leaders.

When I speak at schools I ask the question "what does it mean to be a leader?" The overwhelming response is "The Boss" or "The Person In Charge". In my opinion, the leader is the person who serves the people he/she has been entrusted with. A servant leader, like Jesus! He came to serve, not to be served even though many people followed Him. Jesus understood that He was there to serve them as their leader. If we are going to teach our young people to become leaders, let's teach them to become the right type of leaders - SERVANT LEADERS!

"Readers to Leaders" Program

October 6, 2016

On October 6, 2016 FCA and the University Circle United Methodist Church partnered together to launch the "Readers to Leaders" literacy campaign to Mary B. Martin School. Steve Sanders shared his own challenge and journey in overcoming a reading deficit to graduating from college and becoming a published author. He shared how he went on to be successful and overcame many obstacles in his life.

October 7, 2016

Steve Sanders joined the Bedford High School football team for their pre-game meeting. He spoke to the entire team, to inspire them beyond the game.

October 16, 2016

On October 16th, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes proudly presented Fields of Faith at All Pro Sport Stadium . Despite rainy weather there were about 30 people that came out to participate. Steve Sanders spoke to the group along with Midview High School's Dustin Crum. Those in attendance were challenged to take the 21 day Bible reading challenge

October 20 & 21, 2016

Steve Sanders spoke to the Christian Business Men's Committee as part of their "Attributes" Series. Steve spoke to around 100 men over the course of two days about "Accountability".

Friday, October 21, 2016 was the St. Edward FCA Huddle Annual Fall Retreat. Steve shared his testimony to around 50 student athletes and stressed the importance of finding your purpose, which was this year's retreat theme.

Jeremy & Gina Boguslawski

Jeremy and Gina are the FCA huddle leaders at Rocky River High School. They have been leading the group there for 5 years. Their dedication to leading this group of student athletes is making a difference in the student's lives as well as in Rocky River High School. Thank you Jeremy and Gina for making a difference for Christ!!!

Maeve Walsh and Andrew Gluntz

Maeve and Andrew are student athletes at Rocky River High School. They are two of the student leaders in their FCA "Huddle". Both athletes spoke briefly at the Cleveland FCA Monthly Speaker Series that was held on October 27th. They shared how FCA has had an impact on them. Thank you Maeve and Andrew for also impacting your peers for Christ in Rocky River High School!!!
