Character Coaches

Red Ribbon Week was fantastic! Thank you to everyone who participated!

We are starting a new character series on
OPTIMISM!
OPTIMISM means to expect the best in all things.

According to Raised Inspired Kids
OPTIMISM is one of the mot important skills your child can learn!
Learning how to maintain OPTIMISM is key to your child's future.

The science is clear:
#1. Highly successful people are OPTIMISTIC!
#2. Exceptionally persistent people are OPTIMISTIC!
#3. Deeply satisfied people are OPTIMISTIC!
#4. Tremendously compassionate people are OPTIMISTIC!
#5. Starters and finishers are OPTIMISTIC!

Here are some ideas of things you can do at home with your kids to continue talking about OPTIMISM:

#1.  Teach them to express gratitude.  Being appreciate of big blessings isn't enough - OPTIMISTS are grateful for the smallest things in life.  The sun coming up in the morning and the dog being excited to greet you at the door  are examples of being grateful for the littlest things,  which makes the bigger things that much better.

#2.  Teach them to donate their time and energy.  Whether it's helping at the local soup kitchen or being available to people you know, giving back is a habit OPTIMISTIC people practice.

#3.  Be a positive role model.  Model being OPTIMISTIC.  If children hear lots of OPTIMISTIC comments,  they are more likely to develop this type of thinking themselves.

"The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity.
The OPTIMIST sees the opportunity in every difficulty."

~Winston Churchill
