Letter from the President
HBAM President Greg Smith
I am honored to have served as your Home Builder's Association of Mississippi President this year. Overall, I feel it has been a good time for the association.
 We have added new benefits and continue working toward increasing our membership and its value to you. We will install the new leadership team on November 10th.

I feel confident we are moving the association forward in many great ways. We must all work together to close the loop for success and to continue the path ahead.

This month, we have exciting opportunities that correlate to significant savings and free training to impact your bottom line. We look forward to seeing everyone for the  2016 Annual Fall Conference and Education Forum on November 8-10th at the Embassy Suites in Ridgeland.

On November 8th, we will hold the first opportunity for free safety training through Safety Plus. This 2 hour course that could help your earn 10% on Workers' Comp insurance if you qualify under the new partnership program through Amfed. The conference will also include other education seminars as well as the Best of Mississippi and the Builder and Associate of the Year awards. 

To wrap up the meeting, we have invited legislators to discuss the legislative priorities for the year. You will not want to miss the opportunity to learn more about what the association can do for you.

Thanks again for the opportunity to lead this organization. I hope this is one of the many great years ahead for our association and our industry.

Election Information
General Election Day is on November 8 and polls are open from 7AM to 7PM.

HBAM is a member of the Business and Industry Political Education Committee (BIPEC), which offers recommendations on the upcoming elections.

It's not to late to join HBAM for the 2016 Annual Fall Conference and Education Forum from November 8-10th!

In addition to the annual meetings, the conference will include continued education seminars, the Best in Mississippi Awards Banquet and the Installation of Officers luncheon. 

All members are invited to attend the President's Dinner and Best in Mississippi Awards Banquet to recognize the excellent work of our members throughout our industry and the winners of the 2016 Best in Mississippi Housing & Remodeling Awards.

The Installation of Officers Luncheon will congratulate the newly inducted HBAM leadership as well as thank those who have serves the last year. The luncheon will also include an overview of the legislative priorities and strategy for the upcoming session.

Congratulations, Charles Porter!
Charles Porter, former Home Builders Association of Mississippi President and long-time member, was added to the "Mississippi Top 50" list this month.

The annual list, sponsored by Y'all Politics and Supertalk Mississippi, selects individuals who are determined to be the most influential leaders in the state. The awards include various leaders in the economic development industry, business, media and government affairs in addition to the elected and appointed officials.

Porter served the housing industry as a Licensed Commercial Contractor, Land Developer and Real Estate Broker for 25 years before founding the consulting service GuidePoint in 2009. GuidePoint serves clients in business development as well as government relations.

In addition to serving in various leadership positions throughout local, state and nation home builders associations, Porter was inducted into the Mississippi Housing Hall of Fame in 2010.

We offer our congratulations to Charles Porter on this recognition.

2016 Builder Blitz Membership Drive Report
In the months of September and October, HBAM's 
2016 Builder Blitz Membership Drive encouraged local associations to build membership and recruit new members.

We would like to thank the many local associations who hosted events and worked deligently to recruit new members to the association!
