Happening at the Tannenbaum Holiday Shop this month.....

We are excited to announce that the day after Thanksgiving ( November 25th, 2016) we will be having our annual Black Friday  SALE!  Most items in the store will be marked down 20% and check out our sale room where items are marked down 50%!

Was 2016 an important year for you and your family? Maybe it was the year you married your soul mate, welcomed a new baby to the family, retired from a job, or graduated from school? Or maybe your family traditions includes getting a new ornament every year. For these reasons and many more, our "dated" ornaments may be exactly what you are looking for this year. "Dated" ornaments are ornaments that feature the year (i.e. 2016) printed on the ornament. We have dated ornaments by many of your favorite brands including Christopher Radko, Old World Christmas, and Inge-Glas and we wanted to highlight some of those ornaments in this month's newsletter.
Christopher Radko

This last winter when we were picking out Christopher Radko ornaments, we might have gone a little overboard on the dated ornaments.  In the past, we have been fortunate to carry three or four different designs.  Well, this year we were excited to have a dozen styles.  We have all ready sold out of a few styles, so make sure you get your favorite today!

Having a BallWrappin Up 2016, Bounty for the Year and Perfect Timing Nick all feature Santa accompanied by different objects with 2016 printed on it. In Having a Ball , Santa is leaning against a large purple ornament.  Wrappin Up has Santa holding a present. Santa is filling his bag with toys in Bounty for the Year. And Perfect Timing Nick features Santa carrying a bag full of toys. If you are looking for a playful  Yearly Antics  may be the ornament for you.  Yearly Antics features a trio of penguins dressed in colorful top hats standing next to the number 2016.

If you are looking for a smaller Radko ornament, we have little gems featuring the year printed on it.  A Year to Display features Santa holding up presetns with 2016 printed on them.  In addition, A Year to Give features a snowman holding a 2016 stocking.  Awaiting the Year features our only nutcracker holding a stack of presents with 2016 printed on it.

In addition to creating dated ornaments featuring popular holiday delights, Christopher Radko has also created a specific baby ornament featuring the year.  Quack Rattle and Roll features a cute chick wearing a Santa cap and sitting on a rattle. The rattle has 2016 written on it. This ornament is gender neutral making it the perfect gift to any family who has welcomed a new baby this year!
Old World Christmas

Another option for a yearly ornament is the Marching Teddy from Old World Christmas.  Marching Teddy is a bear ready to start the parade. He is dressed in a red and blue suit and is carrying a 2016 flag.
Inge-Glas of Germany

This year we also have one dated ornament by Inge-Glas, Christmas Guide  Christmas Guide features Santa carrying a lantern and a small Christmas tree.  On the back of the ornament 2016 is inscribed.
2016 Goebel Angels

In addition to our glass ornaments, we also carry porcelain angel ornaments with 2016 printed on them.  Each angel is about 3 inches tall and is holding a small nutcracker.  Currently we have three colors available: blue, purple and the always classic white bisque angel design. Goebel angels are in their 41st edition.
Biedermann Ornament

Our final dated ornament we wanted to share with you is a brass ornament from Biedermann & Sons.  Every year, Biedermann creates one dated ornament out of metal.  This year's ornament features a child dressed in a coat and a scarf holding a Christmas Tree.  Across the top of the ornament says "Christmas 2016." These ornaments are hand made in Gmuend, Germany.
Department 56 Mid year releases are here!
We are excited to have mid year release houses to go with all your favorite Department 56 Villages! Each one of these houses/stores is filled with intricate details to enhance any Christmas scene. This year's mid year releases all have the theme of "Christmas Sweets."  One of the happiest things about Christmastime is enjoying the many wonderful foods, especially treats. And what could be more of a treat than chocolate? Share in the joy with the Christmas Sweets, by Department 56.
In Snow Village Christmas Sweets, the sweet scent of candy entices everyone on Main Street to stop and smell the chocolates in downtown Snow Village.  Pennies are saved, looking forward to getting a treat.  The sweets inside include a giant molded chocolate Santa set among plates of truffles and bonbons. Unable to resist, a young fellow stops in front to peek inside at the dimensional window display.  Garlands and wreaths, decorated with gold bows, accent the bright red trimmed building. The large marquee sign, capped with a candy icon, advertises chocolates to the passersby. To accompany this store, Snow Village Sidewalk Sweets is a sidewalk cart that features uniformed vendor offering a box of fine chocolates to the Snow Village shopper.

During the Dickensian times in London, Chocolate was a luxury.  Ingredients such as cocoa and sugar were imported from the far reaches of the powerful British Empire.  Most likely, commoners enjoyed the sweet confection only during special occasions such as Christmastide.  In the Dickens Village Christmas Sweets, it seems appropriate that a chocolatier would be an elegant, upscale building that would serve the crown (noted by the Royal Crest included in the decal art of the building).  Giant molded chocolate Santa's capture the attention of a young boy and his pup, hand and paws on the window indicate their anticipation of a sweet treat.  To accessorize this store we suggest
Dickens Village Sidewalk Sweets  This beautiful piece shows a n elegant vendor in top hat stands ready to serve the fine chocolates from his cart.

Finally, we have the North Pole Christmas Sweets   which shows Santa's hard candy counter display inside.  Working elves need a sweet break too! Momma elf hoists a young elf to peek in the window.  The North Pole Sidewalk Sweets, a chocolate cart on skis, gives functionality to the candy vendor at the Pole.
Tannenbaum's Reading Corner

"Where oh where do all the leaves go when winter comes and the cold wind blows?"  When Winter Comes by Nancy Van Laan tells the story of what happens in nature as the seasons change.  It describes how mice tunnel underground, birds fly south, and flower seeds burrow into the ground.  This book features playful illustrations of a child with his parents observing all the changes in nature as the snow is falling on the ground.
Tannenbaum Website

Last month, we mentioned that we updated our website.  We wanted to let you know that since then we have been busy adding more merchandise including Jim Shore, Snowbabies, Vaillancourt Chalkware, and Stony Creek vases.  We have also put up all of your favorite Dept 56 Villages, including Alpine Village, Christmas in the City, Dickens, Halloween, New England, North Pole, and the Original Snow Villages.  And we have a section of General Village Accessories that coordinate with all of the villages. Check it out today!
