Earlier this month, the Greece Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Presenting Sponsor Genesee Regional Bank, celebrated small businesses and microenterprises at its annual Small Business Awards Luncheon. This year, we recognized six finalists (Doodle Bugs Children's Center Greece, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery & Ascension Garden, Tracey Door Company, Benefit Representatives of America, Inc. ReHouse Architectural Salvage, and The Overtime Grill) and two award recipients: Holy Sepulchre Cemetery & Ascension Garden as the Small Business of the Year and Benefit Representatives of America, Inc. as the Microenterprise of the Year. All of us at the Greece Chamber of Commerce came away with a renewed appreciation for the dedication to hard work, innovation, and customer service that are the hallmarks of our small business community.
Local small businesses are the backbone of our economy. There are 28 million small businesses in the United States and 56.1 million of us rely on a small business for our paychecks.
Wirh the biggest retail sales days of the year ahead of us, we strongly encourage you to get out and shop in support of our wonderful local merchants on Saturday, November 26th, a day designated nationally as Small Business Saturday. It's a great way to get your holiday shopping done, to keep dollars in our local community, and to support our overall economic growth.
