MMS Monthly E-Newsletter |  November 2016

Dear MMS Families,

We are approaching a busy time of year, and look forward to seeing you at our many upcoming events!  This month, the Farmstand will be back and we will kick off our Annual Fund Campaign.  In just a few weeks, we will co-host our annual Book and Bake Sale in cooperation with Charleston's independent bookseller, Taylor Books.  On December 16, all MMS students will take part in our Winter Concert at St. Matthew's Church on Bridge Road. 

Classrooms are now open for observations. To schedule an observation in Primary or Elementary, please contact Beth. Bridgett will announce observation times for the Middle School. Direct observation is the best way to experience a Montessori classroom, and we strongly encourage all families to observe at least once during the year.

Many thanks to those who volunteered their time and expertise so far this year.  We are still in need of a few volunteers for the Book and Bake Sale on December 8 and 9.  To sign up, please follow this link:

  • the University of Charleston, for providing the use of their swimming facilities for our Elementary and Middle School PE classes.
  • our friends at the YMCA, for sending lifeguards to assist with swimming classes.

  • JoEllen Zacks, for carefully and continuously documenting special events and everyday moments at MMS.

CLASSROOM OBSERVATIONS

Classrooms are now open for parent observations.  We encourage all parents to conduct at least one classroom observation during the year.  To schedule a classroom observation, please call or email Beth at 304-342-7870 or bgeorge@mountaineermontessori.org

MANNA MEAL/COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT
Several of our fifth year students are heading up an effort to collect donations for Manna   Meal , and have asked me to send the message below. 

Manna meal, so the hungry can eat. Help us help them. Please donate the following below. You can donate through  November 1 - November 21.  There will be a table in the Lower Elementary hallway to put the donated food on.  Please donate the following below:
  • cereal
  • eggs
  • milk
  • canned soup
  • canned meat
  • peanut butter and jelly
  • pasta and pasta sauce
  • macaroni and cheese
  • water bottles
  • bread

They also accept 10.00 gift cards to Family Dollar, Dollar General and Kroger. They are also open to donated bus tickets that cost 2.50 at Kanawha Valley Regional Transit Authority.
