Up for a challenge? Try your hand at shelter building, fire starting and finding your way with a compass to see if you have the skills to survive an apocalypse. Come prepared to be outside and dress for the weather. See if you can outsmart the undead!

The plants may be getting ready for the end of the season, but we can still celebrate the joy of the harvest. Explore plants from the seed to the fruit and you will paint a pumpkin to take home and enjoy.

The animals have more treats than tricks today. Stop in and visit our resident critters and test out your nature skills. Follow their 'tricky' clues to earn a treat for all of your hard work. Drop in any time on Halloween to participate, but registration is required to receive a prize.

Hickory Knolls is home to many animals that have been rescued. Bring a stuffed animal friend to meet some of the animals that call the Discovery Center home and then play along with a pretend check-up for your stuffed friend.

Channel your sensory skills as you challenge against the true Jedi Masters-the animals. Animal adaptions allow them to survive the wild and you can see if your senses measure up to the 'force' of nature.

The Hickory Knolls Discovery Center is a 10,500 sq. ft. building featuring a spacious lobby that soars more than 20 feet in height, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame views of the oak savanna just outside the doors. A wide range of attractions appeal to visitors of all ages including live animal displays, interactive floor-to-ceiling murals, indoor turtle pond and wetland exhibit, and more.
