PATH Intl. Credentialing Council (PICC) Nominations are Being Finalized--Vote Next Week

Now that nominations for the PATH Intl. Credentialing Council (PICC) have drawn to a close, PATH Intl. thanks those who submitted nominations and references for nominees. With this support, the association looks forward to proceeding with the next steps in instituting the PICC.

Nominations were received from a diverse group of certified individuals enthusiastic about representing the many voices of the PATH Intl. Membership. The nominations review task force is finalizing review of the nominations to verify each nominee's eligibility for the ballot.

Although we did not receive nominations for all 12 representative positions available, we received enough nominations to fill 5 key positions-including the imperative position of the registered level therapeutic riding instructor. Only one other crucial position remains open, that of the public member. Per NCCA standards, a public member must be included to represent the population served by PATH Intl. Certification and Accreditation programs. The public member cannot be a member of PATH Intl., certified by PATH Intl., nor be employed by an equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) center. The ideal candidate for this position is an EAAT participant, parent, center board member or volunteer. Given that no nominations for the public member were submitted, the newly elected PICC will manage the recruitment and selection of a public member upon convening so as not to delay the election.

What's next?
On Monday, August 21, 2017, the ballot will be announced by email and the election will open. The election will take place electronically via a SurveyMonkey link that will be sent to you. Paper ballots will be mailed to PATH Intl. members who have no email address in their membership record. The election will close at midnight mountain time on September 4, 2017.

We encourage all members to please take time to consider the candidates on the ballot and cast votes for their new PICC representatives.
