HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM ALL OF US AT WCA!

PRINCIPAL LETTER

Happy Thanksgiving, WCA Families and Friends!

While the winter snows have been delayed so far this year, the hard work put in by our WCA students has not! As a year two school, we are making great strides and really growing!

First, a big shout out to our organizers, participants, and attendees for our first annual Taste of World Compass event! We had tremendous student presentations, awesome information sessions, and a great turnout!

This month's Cougar Essential was Compassion. During our recent assembly, we reviewed how our words can impact others and how we can show our compassion by sharing caring words. Check out the paper chain of compassionate acts (i.e. random acts of kindness) that has started at the front hallway!

Don't forget, we have Parent/Teacher Conferences today and tomorrow, and I want everyone to use this time to make sure that we are all on the same page for our students with great communication and goals. Also, make note of the fact that we are rolling out our first trimester report cards, and that our Foreign Language department is helping align our instruction to the ACTFL standards (see their letter of explanation).

And finally, as a part of our foundational principles, here's Rule 2 of Ron Clark's "The Essential 55:" Make eye contact. When someone is speaking, keep your eyes on him or her at all times.
If someone makes a comment, turn and face that person.

Thanks for being a part of our great school family and enjoy the holiday break!

Working together for our students,

Lance Howard
WCA Principal

A NOTE FROM THE MUSIC TEACHER

Dear Parents,

The WCA Advanced Choir will be performing this weekend at the Starlighting event in Castle Rock on November 19. They have worked so incredibly hard to make this performance happen, and I am more than proud of their work. This is the first time that our amazing school will be represented during a HUGE event in this great town!

I already know that they will blow people away with their sound. I would love for them to be supported by an enthusiastic WCA community. If you plan to be at the Starlighting, please come and support them. We will perform from  4:05-4:25pm at the stage at 4th Street and Wilcox. This is a huge opportunity for the school and for these dedicated singers. I hope to see you all there!

On a side note, I will not be available on November 18 during conferences. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Best wishes!
Michael Ballard
