GALA Urgently Needs Your Support for Arts & Culture in Central New England!
We ha
ve been searching for the right place to call our home, and we have finally found it for YOU. A place where we can share our passion for all of the arts. The Winchendon History and Cultural Center purchased the house next door to their museum and has invited GALA to bring the talent of our membership to Winchendon at this location at 135 Front Street. Our office and Gift Shop will be in the main house, but there is also a carriage house on the property with a tall ceiling and large wooden barn beams. We will be renovating this carriage house to be used for art exhibits and other activities. Until this new space is ready, we will have use of a few rooms inside the main house. Besides art exhibits, we will offer classes, coffeehouses, music jams, poetry events, critiques and much more! We plan to continue holding our Annual Spring Show and other events in the Greater Gardner area. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership with the Winchendon History and Cultural Center.
In order for our new Arts Gallery to be successful, we urgently need you to donate and volunteer.

An Afternoon of GALA Poetry
|
The GALA Poetry event on October 16 was another enjoyable afternoon of wonderful words and camaraderie. Our featured poet, Ann Marie Meltzer, read several powerful selections from her book "Coming of Age" and then took a few questions from the audience, providing quite a lot of interesting conversation. After a short break, open mic poetry once again allowed us to hear the delightful variety of so many talented writers among us.
We're looking forward to another afternoon of GALA Poetry in February 2017 and other upcoming poetic events in the May-June timeframe.

Lily Serenade by Joanne Boudreau |
The Jaffrey Civic Center is delighted to display the works of Ashby, Massachusetts artist, Joanne Boudreau in an upcoming exhibit which runs from October 28h through November 17th. The exhibit will be held in the ground floor Display Case Gallery and there will be an Opening Reception on Friday, October 28st from 5 - 7pm. Ms. Boudreau works from her garden studio which sits at the end of a small path she named "Verbena Lane" which refers to all the purple topped verbena in her gardens. For Joanne, "creating art is a personal journey, a meditative process and just plain fun. My connection to the earth is such a strong influence in my life and art that landscape is my main focus even when I paint or draw flowers. Beauty is my other true love. Color, line and value are my tools to help me put a voice to the beautiful world we travel through. I paint mostly in watercolor and pastel but I also love drawing in charcoal, and playing with block printing, mixed media, and paper making." -Joanne Boudreau
All of our exhibits/receptions are free and open to the public.
