Help Needed!
Because we have hit the first and second tiers in the Bonus Category 2 Campaign we are on the hook for two great incentives for First Church.

1.  The Gutter Sundae Sunday is scheduled for August 27th (Youth Sunday) after both services.  Tony will purchase the ice cream needs but needs friends who can make the Sunday so it is ready after service.

2.  The Sunday after, September 3rd, we are responsible for washing every Car in the Parking Lot during services.  So we need parents and leaders who can help not to mention every student in the youth group that can help.  Obviously there is no need to dress up that week.

So please let Tony know how you can help.  Thank you.
Parent Connect Night is This Sunday Night 8/27
This Sunday night is Parent Connect.  Parent Connect is a once a month meeting (typically held on the last Sunday of the month) in which we invite parents to join us for a potluck dinner and a parent's meeting and we discuss upcoming trips and events.  Topics this month will include; Pumpkin Patch, Rock the Universe, and the  Winter Retreats and more.

Please bring a dish to share. The theme this month is "Noche Latina" aka Latin Night, in which parents are challenged to bring a dish that Latin in Nature.  So Cuban, Mexican, Spanish, Puerto Rican, Peruvian, etc.  Childcare is available for children; 5 months to 5th grade.

Time To Talk Pumpkin Patch.
Well if you can believe it, it is time to start preparing for the Pumpkin Patch.  We are only 1 month from our first delivery. We will be working on September 4th (Labor Day) in which we will unload the patch shed (9a-2p).  We'll start hanging lights, continue to cut and paint the characters, and start building the interactive elements.

Then on September 10th, we will have our Pumpkin Patch Rally from 6 to 8p. Students traditionally get an hour for being at the rally.  It is also their first opportunity to sign up for shifts.  We allow upperclassmen to go first as their schedules tend to be more limited, followed by lowerclassmen and then middle schoolers.

Our first unloading is September 23rd at 8am.

So join us as it's time to get busy and prepare for another big fundraising season.  We need lot's of help.

Bring a Friend Month

Starting August 14th through September 30th.

We will be having our annual Bring a Friend Month Event. We are excited to once again offer FOUR AMAZING PRIZES!!  So here's how it works this year.

A student invites a friend who has NEVER been to youth group before. These are NEW friends that they meet at school or on a team.  They can invite them to Venture, Discover or Pursuit and Xplore (as long as they are in the appropriate grades).  They will get an entry into the bring a friend box for their grade.
-They can get up to three entries per friend if they visit three different times.
-Their friends can get credit for inviting friends too.
-At the end of the month, we will draw two (separate) names from each of the two boxes (high school and middle school)
-Between the 4 winners, in order of who brought the most friends, will get to choose their reward first, the 2nd most will go 2nd, etc. etc.
-If there is a tie, we will determine a winner by random draw.
-So far we can expect to see the rewards as; a Samsung Tablet, a $200 credit to any camp or retreat, a Giant 8' Foam Surfboard and an HP Elitebook.

So start asking your friends to come to youth group.  You could be the one to take home an awesome prize.
Youth Sunday
This coming Sunday is Youth Sunday.  That is the Sunday in which students take over both services (9a and 11a).  We are in the planning stages of everything and hope that all parents and friends will come to be a part of this awesome time. Students will also sing a song.  We we have a final rehearsal on Saturday Night from 3-5p.  Check out last year's youth choir number.

Rock the Universe

The students have voted and over a dozen have paid their deposit.  This year we are attending Rock the Universe on FRIDAY night. The cost of the event is $95 and we'll be going on September 8th. The cost includes Transportation, Ticket into Rock the Universe, and a Fast Pass to use on each ride one time.  There is a $25 cash or check deposit due when you sign up (can not use your account for the deposit).

Total balance is due by August 27th.

Parent and Adult Leader Chaperones can go for only $40 * each. So sign up today and get those deposits in.  You won't want to miss this Rock-In' event.

*Must be willing to provide and participate in chaperoning duties
Silver Sands Parents
If your student is enrolling in Silver Sands Middle School this upcoming school year and you would like permission for them to eat with Tony outside of the cafeteria, then you must write on their emergnency card his information and that they have permission to have lunch with.  Check "NO" for Pick-Up and Custody but write in LUNCH ONLY.  My information is below. Creekside students does not need to do this as far as I know.
