New quilt, Spanish Steps
The weather this past month in the Washington area can only be described as oppressive but that hasn't deterred the many quilters stopping by the Studio to pick up their kits and free patterns for the Row by Row international shop hop. It is always wonderful to meet so many of you who come from near and far. Don't forget that Row by Row ends September 5.

This month, I will be teaching a new class, Arabic Tiles, based on my quilt by the same name which features fussy cut border prints along with my new mini-stripe fabric. If you were not able to secure a spot in this class, don't worry. I plan to offer it again this fall so watch for the class announcement coming soon.

And speaking of the mini-stripes, don't miss the first look at my new quilt featuring those same mini-stripes, plus great products, trips, tips, and the all-important next clue in our Moroccan Mystery quilt, all in this month's newsletter.
Mini-Stripes Add a Special Touch to Spanish Steps
Log Cabin designs are a favorite among quilters and a traditional quilt made by many. I've taken this classic design and given it a different look with the addition of my mini-stripe fabric and mirror-image medallions made from fussy-cutting border print fabric.

The Spanish Steps in Rome, with their wide, irregular steps, inspired the alternating wide and thin strips, or logs, in this quilt. This is a simple quilt to construct with a big, graphic impact. It is available in three distinct colorways - blue, purple and red, and two sizes - lap and queen.

A Visit from Alex Veronelli of Aurifil Thread
Aurifil thread has become the go-to thread for most quilters whether they work by hand or machine and I am one of those quilters. This past month, we were thrilled to welcome Alex Veronelli of Aurifil who gave us a glimpse into how Aurifil threads are made, recommended thread weights for projects, care instructions and a trunk show of fabulous quilts. And maybe best of all...swag bags with free thread!

We carry three Aurifil thread collections which I have put together for both hand and machine piecing.  The colors were chosen with all quilters in mind - colors that are perfect for the majority of your sewing needs.
