' 1A' To Replace The Diane Rehm Show
As previously announced, Diane Rehm will be stepping away from the microphone after nearly 40 years as the host of a daily radio program. Her plans are to continue to write, make public appearances in support of issues she cares about, and she's working on a new podcast. Her final live show will be broadcast Dec. 23 and the remainder of the year will feature replays of some of the best of The Diane Rehm Show.

Beginning Jan. 2, the 9 - 11 a.m. time slot will be filled by a new program produced at WAMU titled 1A. The new show will honor Diane's legacy of fostering civil conversation and diving into the news with smart analysis and context. Topics covered will include policy and politics, but also lighter fare such as technology, pop culture and even sports.

Joshua Johnson will host 1A; he describes the show format as "call-out" as well as "call-in" with a strong social media presence to foster listener participation before episodes air. Each hour of 1A will often include more than one topic; Friday episodes will feature the week's news in review, a continuation of one of the most popular aspects of The Diane Rehm Show. Stay tuned as we learn more about this new show!

The end of the calendar year is also upon us, when many are thinking of making the most of tax deductions for charitable giving. Consider a donation to help replace the aging transmitter and related broadcast equipment for our 105.7 FM signal serving Oklahoma County.
