Teresa Morris and Mary Jo Beckman hand out ballots at the 2016 PATH Intl. Annual Meeting
The presidential election wasn't the only vote happening this November. PATH Intl. also held a bylaws vote at the 2016 Annual Meeting in Williamsburg, VA.

At 8:16 a.m., votes were cast for changes and an addition to the bylaws. Ballots were collected by five PATH Intl. staff members and five membership volunteers from those in attendance. Ballots were counted by PATH Intl. staff member Cher Smith and membership volunteer from the audience Samantha Bannock.

The results were as follows:

Bylaws changes - 345 yes votes (86.7%), 53 no votes (13.3%). Changes were approved by two-thirds (2/3) majority.

Bylaws addition of credentialing council - 286 yes votes (72%), 112 no votes (28%). Addition of credentialing council was approved by two-thirds (2/3) majority.

For a refresher on the bylaws changes and addition decided on in this vote, details can be found here.

Center Renewal
Thank you for your commitment to safety, ethical practices and professionalism in equine-assisted activities and therapies. To ensure that PATH Intl. continues to provide your center with premium education and to maintain uninterrupted access to the wealth of benefits available to PATH Intl. centers, please renew your center membership by December 31.

Online center renewal for 2017 is available, and it is especially easy to renew your membership before it expires. With the elimination of paper, you'll end any worry about losing your form on the desk or in the mail.

Click here to renew online. NOTE: The center's primary contact or executive director must be logged in to his or her personal account in order to renew online.

If you need to update the primary contact for your center, please send in a center change notification form or a premier accredited center change notification form.

Of course, if you prefer to send in a hard copy renewal, that is still an option. Download and complete the center renewal booklet and renewal invoice, and mail it in.

Centers that prefer to pay by check may now complete the center renewal booklet online and mail or use an electronic check for center membership dues.

For more information about renewing your center membership, please visit our FAQ page or the Center Renewal page.

On November 14, 2016, an email went out to the personal email addresses of the assigned primary contacts for PATH Intl. Centers with information about renewing center membership. If you are the primary contact of a center, and did NOT receive the email from Karen Province, please call the office or contact Karen so that we can double check our records and the email address we have on file.
From the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee
To all who attended this year's PATH Intl. Conference, welcome home! I hope you all came home to a barn full of healthy horses and more beautiful fall weather. On my way home from the conference I took a detour and stopped at Jo Anne Miller's farm in Virginia to visit a center that is also a rescue and sanctuary. Brookhill Farm is a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center and also accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. I learned more about how to become a rescue and a sanctuary. Jo Anne shared how being an accredited rescue and sanctuary has helped her to be fully funded and able to guarantee the horses at Brookhill Farm sanctuary for the rest of their lives. I enjoyed walking the 60-acre farm while meeting the 30+ horses that live turned out. Please read this study that took place at Brookhill Farm.

For the Horses,
Cathy Languerand, PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee Chair

The PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee is committed to refining and deepening our perspective of equine well-being to include the physical, mental and emotional well-being of our wonderful four-legged partners. Join us on this journey. Please add your thoughts on the PATH Intl. Community Connections page. It is our desire that these tips start a further discussion on Community Connections. Any thoughts? We appreciate hearing from you!

Your PATH Intl. Membership: Keeping It--and You--Secure
This is just a friendly reminder to all members that your individual or instructor membership belongs to YOU and it is your responsibility to keep it secure.

Individual and instructor memberships are non-transferrable and do not belong to anyone but the original person listed as the member. Another person or business may choose to pay for individual and instructor memberships, but said payer does not own the membership/s.

It is your responsibility to keep your information secure. This includes not only your member ID number but also your online account. It is recommended that your login email address is a personal address and not a work address that may be used by another person other than you. It is not recommended that you share your login information with others. If, for work, you are required to share your account login and password with others and you leave your position, it is highly recommended that you change your email and password as soon as possible to prevent the possibility of inadvertent changes to your information.

It is always a good rule of thumb to change your password periodically. Include upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters to increase the security strength of your password.

PATH Intl. values our members and following these tips should help to keep your information and membership secure.
