A Report from
Mayor Walter Sendzik
Mayor Walter Sendzik
We're just over a month away from the Christmas holidays and on Sunday, Santa Claus made an early visit for the Santa Claus parade. The City Hall tree has been lit for the Hotel Dieu Shaver Snowflakes and Angels campaign and food drives, donation campaigns and holiday activities are taking place across the city. It's the beginning of a special time of year and a time of giving and caring for others. There are many ways to get involved and help make the holiday season special for local families.

The Community Care Great Holiday Food Drive will take place Friday, Dec. 9 at a new location this year: in front of City Hall. We are also collecting woolly donations at the St. Catharines Museum for the Mitten Tree and hosting a knitting circle on Nov. 26. Our Tree of Little Angels campaign continues to collect toy and gift donations for families and children this Christmas.

I am always proud of the care and compassion St. Catharines residents share with one another - no more so than during this festive time of year. Whether sharing your time, your talents, or treasures, we can all help make the holiday season a little brighter for local families.
Council Highlights

The sport commission estimates hosting the tournament will have a local economic impact of about $4 million. FIBA will announce the host community in February.
