Welcome to the ELLE Foundation's Memories of Joy Newsletter
|
W
elcome to the 2016 fourth quarter issue of One ELLE of a Newsletter - the ELLE Foundation's ePublication that is your source for information on the Foundation,
ELLE's
Kids and events.
We want to thank all the wonderful
ELLE Ambassadors who participated in our inaugural
One ELLE of an Evening fundraiser, whether through attendance, sponsorship or direct donation. Thanks to your support, the evening raised an awesome $25,000!
Our continued ability to grant final wishes for children battling a recurrence of cancer is dependent on the compassion and generous support of businesses, corporations and individual donors who join us in our mission to create memories that hearts will treasure forever.
To date, the ELLE Foundation has granted 32 wishes. We currently have 3 newly approved applications (see our newest wish kids in the paragraphs below). These 3 wishes alone will have a combined cost of $34,000.
It is hard for Dean, Dana and me to believe that this December 20th will mark Lauren Elle's 8th Angelversary. We miss her sense of humor and guidance more and more each day. We ask as you prepare to gather with family and friends for the holidays, if you have not done so already, please consider making your 2016 ELLE Donation in honor of our Lauren's life and legacy and all of the people in your lives that have been touched by a cancer.
With Lauren & All of ELLE's Kids in Our Hearts,
Laurie Richmond

Change in ELLE Foundation's Charter
|
As the visibility of the ELLE Foundation has increased across the pediatric oncology community, we have received many requests from oncology centers to consider expanding into an under-served area by supporting wish granting to pediatric patients in the 18 to 20 year old group.
(Make-A-Wish does not grant first wishes for any pediatric oncology patient 18 or over).
The ELLE Foundation Executive Board has voted on an amendment to the ELLE Foundation's Wish guidelines. The amendment will allow the ELLE Foundation to grant first wishes for pediatric oncology patients from the age of 18 to 20.
The ELLE Foundation executive board feels that, since these oncology patients are battling pediatric cancers and are being treated in pediatric oncology centers, they should be able to receive a first wish or a wish for a recurrence and not be excluded due to age.

Thanks again to all who made this evening
such a success!
Lauren's dream is growing as awareness of the ELLE Foundation expands within the oncology community. With more final wish applications being submitted our goal is to NEVER have to deny a child a wish because of the lack of funds - with you as One ELLE of an Ambassador this goal can be achieved.
Your thoughtful and heartfelt participation in this event allows us to keep Lauren alive not only in our hearts but in the lives and hearts of the children and the families that the ELLE Foundation touches.

One ELLE of a Hollywood Night
On November 18th, the red carpet was rolled out for the 5th & 6th grade ELLE Ambassadors of Eisenhower Intermediate School, Bridgewater.
The students with the help of family, friends, teachers and staff raised $7,300 for the ELLE Foundation.
The students were so excited to hear that they raised enough money to grant the wish of Vasia, a 10-year-old girl battling clear cell meningioma for the second time. In June, after her current treatment, Vasia and her little brother and parents will be going to Give Kids the World in Orlando and have the chance to visit Disney, Seaworld and Universal.
The evening included h
air styles for the girls by Chez Colour of Bridgewater, d
ancing, photo booth fun and karaoke.
A special thank you goes to Stephanie Rovi & Gretchen Alvarez and everyone at Eisenhower School for all of their hard work that made the evening such a success.
