Thanks to the state Smart Schools Bond Act, Long Lake was awarded funds to finance improvements in technology infrastructure and to increase the use of technology in teaching and learning.
"What this means is that students this year will each be issued a computer to help with their studies both in school and at home We also used the funds to expand Wi-Fi access in our school building.," said Dr. Donald K. Carlisle, Superintendent of Schools.
Elementary students will receive tablets and secondary school students will be issued laptops.
T
eachers are also looking forward to incorporating more technology into their lessons. Studies have shown that many students are more stimulated and more apt to learn when they can interact with hands-on learning tools. Similarly interactive classroom presentation tools such as video clips and graphics help keep students engaged in lessons. The use of technology also helps prepare our students for future employment.
