Facing Addiction in America
WH
U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, MD, MBA released a landmark report on the country's addiction crisis on 11/17/16 entitled The Surgeon General's Report on Alcohol, Drugs, and Health.

WIM
According to the author:

Substance use disorders represent one of the most pressing public health crises of our time...Fifty years ago, the landmark Surgeon General's report on the dangers of smoking began a half century of work to end the tobacco epidemic and saved millions of lives. With The Surgeon General's Report on Alcohol, Drugs, and Health, I am issuing a new call to action to end the public health crisis of addiction.
ER Doctors of America - Parody of Cigna Health Insurance Ad
WH
The American College of Emergency Physicians posted a video on YouTube on 11/15/16 poking fun at a Cigna Insurance Company commercial. The ACEP video highlights a serious issue: the lack of fair coverage for value in emergency medical care.

WIM
ACEP's president, Rebecca Parker, MD, FACEP, stated, "Many people don't realize how little insurance coverage they have until they visit the ER, and then they are shocked at how little their insurance company pays. The $9 million Cigna spent on an ad starring well-loved actors playing physicians would have been better spent on patients. Emergency physicians fight hard for their patients who are bearing an increasingly large share of the burden for their medical care."

What Will Trumpcare Bring?
WH
Niran S. Al-Agba, MD, in an 11/14/16 KevinMD post, asserts:

The world is not going to end. We witnessed a revolution earlier recently. The people have spoken, and they chose the anti-establishment, street smart, government shrinking candidate who bucks the status quo. We find ourselves in uncharted territory, with an unpredictable President-elect, who has unclear plans for health care.

WIM
According to the author:

Improving our broken health care system will involve decision making in the face of great uncertainty... Hillarycare was a known entity with a foregone conclusion. Trumpcare remains a bit of an unknown...Independent practices have a better chance of survival than they did just a few short days ago.
