The Winter Standdown for Homeless Veterans--where veterans supply homeless veterans with food, clothing and services--will take place on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Northwest Armory.

This one day event is intended to prepare homeless veterans for the difficult winter months, focusing on winter clothing and housing resources. It is expected to serve between 700 and 800 veterans from the Chicagoland area.

Humboldt Park's Northwest Armory has been home to hosting Standowns for homeless veterans since 1993.
 
Services will include:
  • Lunch
  • Flu shots
  • Housing information/applications
  • VA benefit information, review of possible discharge upgrades
  • Department of Human Services and Social Security information/applications
  • Employment opportunities
  • Legal Assistance
  • Haircuts
  • Women's services
  • Delicious meals and food to go
