Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati
POST-ELECTION STATEMENT

Our Islamic Center community has been since its inception fully committed to being welcoming and collaborative with all people and will do its part to further that goal regardless of the national tenor. We as Muslim-Americans congratulate President-elect Donald Trump and look forward to our continued civic engagement and full protections and rights as Americans.
There is no better time than now to set divisive politics and hurt behind us. Though sadly, this presidential campaign has been mean-spirited, alienating and has disrespected the very philosophy that is at the heart of this nation's founding, the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati will actively work to encourage dialogue that increases understanding of the challenges and contributions of all of our religious, racial and ethnic groups, including persons seeking citizenship.
We invite everyone to join us in this work of bringing about much-needed healing.

Shakila T. Ahmad,
President,
Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati

CAIR-Cincinnati*, whose overall goal is to ensure that the rights guaranteed to everyone in this nation are enforced, provides the community access to specialized legal services focused on the Muslim community through CAIR's Free Brief Advice Legal Clinics. In addition, they empower these individuals by educating them on their legal rights and what the law says. The CAIR-Cincinnati clinic will provide free legal advice on issues such as civil rights, accommodations for school, accommodations for employment, housing, and immigration law. Many people have legal issues but find access to attorneys difficult. This clinic will enable people to talk to a lawyer about their legal issues briefly at no cost.

******
PLEASE BE SURE TO PICK UP YOUR SON/DAUGHTER ON TIME. IT WOULD BE BEST TO ARRIVE 5-10 MINUTES BEFORE THEIR PRACTICE ENDS.  OUR COACHES ARE ALL STUDENT VOLUNTEERS AND HAVE OTHER COMMITMENTS AND NEED TO BE ABLE TO LEAVE ON TIME. MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT IS FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CHILDREN SO THEY DO NOT START ROAMING AROUND THE BUILDING OR EVEN OUTSIDE UNATTENDED.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Islamic Center In The News

Every community has a narra tive.  Either that community controls the narrative or the narrative cont rols the community.   Now more than ever the American Muslim community has to take control of the narrative. This can only be achieved if as a community we are building bridges and inroads with media.  Media outlets want to cover stories and do pieces that people are interested in. They want viewers, readers, comments, and discussions.  It is critical that as a community we are more visible and more vocal in the media.

We have been blessed for wide and positive coverage of the Center.  When there is positive coverage we must all give feedback and acknowledge and appreciate the work of the media. Please take a few minutes to review the media links and give positive feedback where you feel comfortable.
