Spirit Play Volunteer Training, join us!!

We still have a few spots for the Spirit Play training day,  Saturday, August 26 . Spirit Play is our team-taught ministry to grade school children. It's based on Montessori methods and the UU values and Principles, which we call the Rainbow Promises. We are bringing a UU Spirit Play trainer to Sacramento for this biennial boost for our teaching team.

If you have questions about the program or curiosity about the volunteer commitment, please  contact Rev. Roger now !  If you are ready to register for this training,  let Miranda know !

Force for the Future

Force for the Future is the UUSS long range planning effort that will engage us all in where our spiritual community should be headed over the next five years. Our church last agreed to a long-range plan in 2009, and so many wonderful things resulted from it including the new building and refurbished campus as well as a deeper commitment to our families' and children's religious life here. So off we go again!

We urge you to be involved in this effort to develop a new five-year plan. Here's how:  In September, please complete the brief survey that you will receive by email and that will define the agenda for our day-long Congregational Retreat where we will share ideas and discuss priorities. Save the date of Saturday, October 28 for that retreat. Childcare and lunch will be provided. A third opportunity for input will happen in November and January, with small-group Listening Sessions that explore in detail the goals and objectives that arose from the retreat.

What happens then? A draft UUSS Strategic Plan based on all of your input will be created. It will be shared with the congregation, reviewed and approved by the Board of Trustees, and then presented to the Congregation for official approval at our May 2018 Congregational Meeting. Questions? Contact Carrie Cornwell: ([email protected]).
A 12 Hour Concert for the Sacramento Food Bank

Message from Ross Hammond, RE Dad and Musician: On Friday, September 1 -  I'll be playing for 12 hours to support the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services. The goal is to raise $2,500 with this marathon concert, and I'm nearly halfway there. But it's time to push harder.   I need your help to make this happen. If you'd like to support this effort you can donate $10, $25, $50, $100, $500 or a custom amount. All of the donations go to the Sacramento Food Bank.

You can also donate in person at the concert. I'll be playing from 9AM-9PM at Luna's Cafe on Friday, September 1. Admission is free but donations are encouraged.

Thanks so much for your help.
