Bill Van Cleve at his desk in the Huntington Beach Police Dept.

Bill Van Cleve has dedicated much of his life to protecting the residents of Southern California with over 30 years of service in the Huntington Beach Police Department.

"I was hooked," Bill says referring to his first day on the job in 1966. At the time, he was a young father and the job gave him an opportunity to look after the well-being of the community as well as his family.

A lifelong mentor first stirred Bill's enthusiasm for USC and with support from the GI Bill and other scholarship resources, he undertook a graduate program eventually earning his Master in Public Administration from USC in 1977.

The degree was deeply personal to Bill. It sharpened his ability to take a holistic look at his leadership skills and police work. He began to identify where the service gaps were. "Because of that training, I became a better manager, a better team member," he said.

We rely on public safety professionals to bring their best selves to work every day.

"The average police supervisor would find it difficult to afford to go to a program like this. It's important to help deliver this education to those that come after us," Bill said.

We believe that scholarships supporting public safety professionals benefit the whole community. Every gift to the USC Price Public Safety Scholarship Fund  is an investment in a safer community.
Please join Billy Brockway and Bill Van Cleve in their efforts to give back to public safety professionals who help us change the world every day. Support the USC Price Public Safety Scholarship Fund today!

Sincerely,
