Dear TBDC Family and Friends,

As the Company looks forward to the holiday season, we take a moment to reflect, with gratitude, on the success of our Fall Tour to Europe and the American South, and are eager to share news of our upcoming activities!

The Company dives into the New Year with the 2017 NYC Winter Intensive, immersing students in Brown's work, and presents a showcase on January 7 at the APAP|NYC 2017 Conference.

Last month, audiences in San Francisco experienced new works inspired by Brown's Locus (1975), premiered by ten local artists through Hope Mohr Dance's Bridge Project: Ten Artists Respond to Locus .

We also celebrate the release of " Trisha Brown: Choreography as Visual Art," by the Company's Resident Scholar, Susan Rosenberg, and welcome Ben Houtman as the new Project Archivist.

Best wishes,

Diane Madden & Carolyn Lucas

Beginning with a warm-up to integrate the breath and full dimension of the body, movement exercises will focus on undoing places of tension and holding. Mapping the joints of the body will be emphasized to enable clear and efficient movement. The afternoon workshop will develop into learning a phrase of movement that encompasses quick qualitative shifts and complex points of initiation, taking selections from Trisha Brown's 40 years of repertory.

All participants must be 18 or older. Participants must take the full intensive.  For additional questions please visit  www.trishabrowncompany.org  or contact Nico Brown, Director of Education, at  [email protected] .  Teachers and further programming details will be announced soon!

On November 3, TBDC was pleased to host a book launch party for Susan Rosenberg at the home of Trisha Brown and Burt Barr.  Following a warm introduction by TBDC Board Member Anne Livet, Rosenberg shared a brief presentation on Brown's Locus . Guests also enjoyed a performance of Locus Solo, by TBDC dancer Leah Ives, complementing and highlighting Rosenberg's research and insight.

"After years of deep research into the life and career of Trisha Brown, Susan Rosenberg has illuminated not only the major works of this most imaginative of postmodern choreographers, but the ideas that shaped them and the artistic climate to which they so greatly contributed. An amazing achievement." - Deborah Jowitt

Since the first time, in 1970, that a man ( Joseph Schlichter)  'walked' down the side of a building at 80 Wooster Street in New York City, Trisha  Brown's Man Walking Down the Side of a Building has never ceased to amaze audiences worldwide.  Take a moment to watch two recordings of this timeless work: a restoration of the original 1970 film, side-by-side a recording of  BANDALOOP's 2016 performance at  Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain in Paris, France.
