Xico Arte Y Cultura presents a lecture by George Yepes. Born in Tijuana and raised in East Los Angeles' City Terrace neighborhood, Yepes' work has taken him from East L.A. to Princeton, NASA, Dubai, and Hollywood. With grand scale and furious momentum, Yepes has painted eloquent social, historical and sacred images onto the facades of  museums, churches, guitars, and album covers. Lecture is free to the public, but RSVP is required.

AZ ArtWorker: Richard Montoya

In November 2016, AZ ArtWorker will partner with Teatro Bravo to present a writing and acting workshop with Richard Montoya, co-founder of Chicano theatre group, Culture Clash. Participants will focus on the use of satire and humor to address social and culturally relevant content. This workshop is ideal for playwrights and actors whose work addresses identity and social justice.

The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation's new Mentor Fellowship program will award accomplished American Indian and Alaska Native artists to mentor emerging artist apprentices in the Traditional Arts or Contemporary Visual Arts categories. The program's goal is to improve creative development, artistic rigor, and intergenerational cultural and traditional knowledge perpetuation by fostering the growth of Native artist mentors and apprentices, and empowering them to play an integral role in their communities.

Grant Programs for Mature Visual Artists 
Gottlieb Foundation  
Location: New York, NY 
Deadline: December 15, 2016
Available to painters, printmakers and sculptors with a minimum of 20 years in a mature phase; grant amounts are determined each year. Assists mature painters, printmakers and sculptors suffering from a recent, unforeseen catastrophic event (fire, flood, medical emergency), who have a minimum of ten years in a mature phase; grant amounts range depending on the need and circumstances of the individual applicant.
