NAIC to Honor Outstanding Investment Professionals at Annual Meeting & Convention


WASHINGTON, DC, SEPTEMBER 30, 2015 — The National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC), the industry association for diverse-owned and emerging investment managers, will recognize several outstanding leaders in the private equity industry at its 45th Annual Meeting & Convention on October 5-6 in New York City. The premier thought leadership event in alternative asset investing will offer two days of networking with investment managers, chief investment officers, limited partners, policymakers, as well as in-depth industry panel discussions.

The celebration begins with a welcome reception at the beautiful Pan Asiatic-themed TAO Downtown where the NAIC will honor GCM Grosvenor Associates Stephen Cammock and Tiana Williams; and Tanya Barnes, Managing Partner at Goldman Sachs with the Rising Star Award. This recognizes outstanding young professionals in the financial industry. New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer will be presented with the Pacesetter Award, which recognizes individuals or entities that embody vision, excellence, passion, and extraordinary entrepreneurial achievement.

The world-famous Museum of Modern Art will be the site of the NAIC’s 45th Annual Awards Reception & Gala, which will commemorate the achievements of:
  • Laurence C. Morse, Ph.D., Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Fairview Capital Partners
  • J. Peter Thompson, Managing Partner of Opportunity Capital Partners
  • Denise L. Nappier, Treasurer of the State of Connecticut
  • Daniel D. Villanueva, Advisory Partner, Rustic Canyon / Fontis Partners, LP. (This award will be presented posthumously)
The NAIC will also present its Deal of the Year Award. This recognizes a team that has completed a deal best representing the tremendous insight, extraordinary talent, and investment opportunities resident within the U.S. Emerging Domestic Market. The recipients for this award are:
