Nearly 300 investment managers, chief investment officers, limited partners, and policymakers gathered on October 5-6 to attend the National Association of Investment Company's 45th Anniversary Meeting & Convention at Bank of America One Bryant Park in New York City. Highlights of the premier thought leadership event in alternative asset investing included an exciting welcome reception where the NAIC honored industry leaders, insightful panel discussions, networking opportunities and a gala awards dinner.

The event kicked off with an exciting welcome reception at the beautiful Pan Asiatic-themed TAO Downtown where the NAIC bestowed the Rising Star Award (which recognizes outstanding young professionals in the financial industry) to Stephen Cammock, Associate at GCM Grosvenor Associates; Tiana Williams, Associate at GCM Grosvenor Associates; and Tanya Barnes, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. At the welcome reception, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (D-NY) delivered opening remarks that highlighted the significance of the NAIC and the inclusion efforts of New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer that led to the appointment of Carra Wallace as the first-ever Chief Diversity Officer. Comptroller Stringer was later presented with the Pacesetter Award, which recognizes individuals or entities that embody vision, excellence, passion, and extraordinary entrepreneurial achievement. Rev. Al Sharpton took the podium to speak of the significance of diversity and the struggle for equal opportunity for financial services firms.
