Stewardship Update
Thank you to everyone who has turned in a pledge card. We are so very pleased at the response thus far. With God's help, we are off to a record start. There are still many who have pledged in the past who have not yet turned in a pledge for 2017. Pledge cards are in the pews or for your convenience, you can fill in an online card here:  http://www.sttimothysws.org/2017-pledge

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This Wednesday's Faith & Health Presentation: Mental Health & Faith
We are pleased this week to have Dr. Dan Johnston as our guest for our Faith and Health series. Dr. Johnston will be answering our questions on mental health and we'll explore deeper how issues surrounding mental health intersect with our Christian faith.

Dr. Dan Johnston is originally from Wilmington, NC. His undergraduate degree is from Duke, his medical training was at UNC-Chapel Hill, and he rounded out his Tour of the ACC with his residency and fellowship at Wake Forest. He completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, though he primarily treats adults in his current position at Daymark Behavioral Services. His wife, Becky, works with The Abraham Project at St. Tims. They have two girls, Elizabeth (10) and Julianna (3.5). Dan loves reading, traveling, and cheering for Duke basketball... but his true passion is planning Disney vacations where he is an expert in All Things Mickey-related.

Fr Steve and Rabbi Mark Cohn continue the monthly Priest and a Rabbi gathering this Thursday at 6pm at Finnigan's Wake Pub downtown. Do come early and get a good seat.
Shelter News
Hospitality

Our Overflow Shelter opens in T minus 15 days!  In these days before Thanksgiving, I’ve been thinking a lot about hospitality.  I’m hosting Thanksgiving and can’t help but put a good bit of effort into making it the best day for all.  I want my house guests to feel at home and comfortable, the food to be delicious, the spirits bright, and memories made around the table and as we spend the day together.  As you make your own plans for Thanksgiving—imagine what this same level of hospitality would look like if we extended it to people we don’t know, people whose life is very different from ours, people whose names often are prefaced with the title “homeless”.  This is the same hospitality we are called to share with our guests this winter—we welcome them in, we want them to feel at home and comfortable, we share joys and woes around the table, and we spend precious time together.   With City with Dwellings—hospitality is what we do.  It is at our very core—as we believe that it is almost impossible to offer help to anyone without first taking time to eat together, build relationships, and eventually form bonds of trust.  Every night this winter is an opportunity to offer hospitality at it’s finest—hospitality that will change us all in ways we could never imagine.  Come and see!  Sign-up at www.citywithdwellings.org and click on shelters & St.Timothy’s.

Ready to Volunteer? Overflow Shelter Sign-Ups are Live

The fall is flying by, and our overflow shelter opens in only 36 days! Each year we have partnered with different congregations to fill our spots, and our super group churches take a night and are fully responsible for it. Those are: Highland Presbyterian on Mondays, Knollwood Baptist on Thursdays, and Ardmore Baptist on Fridays. Please sign up for days OTHER than the ones designated for those groups; that is Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Sign ups for the shelter are live - click  here  to pick your dates! If you have any questions, contact Katie Harper at  [email protected].

Shelter Needs

We are collecting new, unused, pillows to use with our guests this fall.  Our goal is to have 40 new pillows by the time the shelter opens on  Dec.1.  We can also use the zippered pillow protectors (preferably not the crinkly plastic kind).  Donations can be left on Drake stage or in front of Katie Bryant's office in Gribbin Commons.

Other items being collected: hotel-sized toiletries, women's underwear, & white crew socks.  We ask that all clothing donations be directed to other non-profits in town who take clothing.  Our guests can get vouchers to shop in these stores.  We are also looking for someone to be our Hospitality Coordinator--keeping up with supply needs and keeping our supplies organized.

Make Someone's Thanksgiving!
As you begin to make plans for celebrating Thanksgiving & Christmas, consider helping to feed another family too this holiday season.  New Communion Mobile Food Pantry has made this easy for us--for $32 you can sponsor a full meal (all of the ingredients needed to make a grand feast!) for a family.  To sponsor a meal, make checks payable to First Christian Church with "New Communion" in the memo line and turn in to St.Tim's by December 12 for Christmas.  St.Timothy's will continue collecting pasta each month for the mobile food pantry, but this is an additional way we can help families in some of Winston-Salem's most food-insecure neighborhoods this holiday season.  If you're interested in learning more about New Communion, email [email protected] or check out them out on facebook here.

Community Thanksgiving Service
The Annual Community Thanksgiving service sponsored by ten faith communities in and around Ardmore will be this Sunday at Temple Emanuel at 5pm.

St Timothy's members are asked to bring canned tuna for Crisis Control.
