The Royal Poinciana Tree
Blooming May through June with the most spectacular display, these graceful trees are breathtaking. The Royal Poinciana is noted for its fern-like leaves and flamboyant display of flowers. In many tropical parts of the world it is grown as an ornamental tree and in English it is given the name Royal Poinciana or Flamboyant. It is also one of several trees known as Flame tree.
The Royal Poinciana is widely cultivated and common sight in South Florida and a particularly treasured tree in BallenIsles. In addition to its ornamental value, it is also a useful shade tree in tropical conditions, because it usually grows to a modest height, spreads widely, and its dense foliage provides full shade. In areas with a marked dry season, it sheds its leaves during the drought, but in other areas it is virtually evergreen.
The flowers are large, with four spreading scarlet or orange-red petals up and a fifth upright petal called the standard, which is slightly larger and spotted with yellow and white. Seed pods are dark brown and can be large but the individual seeds, however, are small. The compound leaves have a feathery appearance and are a characteristic light, bright green.

Stong performance generates demand! As the BallenIsles Real Estate market nears the end of its peak selling season, it is easy to be confident in our community's vitality. Prices have flattened out after last year's encouraging rise and days on the market appears to be lengthening. That said, we feel bullish that after the November election buyers will feel more settled and return to the South Florida market.
