We are loving the balmy Florida Spring weather and congratulating ourselves for choosing to reside in such a fabulous locale. The trees are flowering, the birds are singing and sunshine fills our days. We are fortunate indeed.
We include an article on a brand new attraction to our area, the Manatee Lagoon. This new facility is free and a wonder for young and old. It is a place to learn about manatees and to see the gentle giants of Florida! Laura was lucky enough to see over a hundred manatees on a cool day in February.

Manatee Lagoon
The Florida manatee is the largest of all the world's manatees. In fact, the most gigantic can weigh more than 3,500 pounds! Measuring up to 12 feet from snout to tail, most adult manatees tip the scales at more than 1,200 pounds.
Manatees like to stay warm. During the cool winter months, they gather around warm water sources to avoid cold temperatures. Florida Power & Light Company's Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center creates a flow of warm water that is just right for manatees.
Manatee Lagoon - An FPL Eco-Discovery Center, is a new, FREE Palm Beach County educational attraction with a  dedicated area for viewing manatees up close. The 16,000-square-foot center features engaging, hands-on exhibits for visitors to learn all about these endangered and unique creatures as well as the natural wonders of the surrounding Lake Worth Lagoon. On cold winter days, the facility's observation deck is the ideal spot to view manatee herds basking in the warm-water outflows from Florida Power & Light Company's adjacent Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center.
