NRMN's four group coaching models for grant writing differ from one another with respect to the duration of the program, specific teaching methods used, as well as the level and type of subject matter included. Each program is best suited to rising investigators at a particular stage of their research career. Dr. Meredith Bond Honored with the First AAMP- NRMN Excellence in Mentoring Award at AAMP 30th Annual Meeting

During the 30th annual AAMP Meeting this October, the AAMP Academic Leadership Forum presented the first AAMP- NRMN Excellence in Mentoring Award to Dr. Meredith Bond of Cleveland State University.

Members of NRMN "Meet and Greet" Each Other at SACNAS and ABRCMS

This October at SACNAS 2016 in Long Beach, CA, and then again at ABRCMS 2016 in November in Tampa, FL, NRMN hosted a special "Meet and Greet" networking event to bring together conference attendees. The first of their kind, these events invited all members of the NRMN community in attendance at the two conferences to mingle with one another, and offered opportunities for those less familiar with NRMN to gain inspiration from hearing from current NRMN members who all share a passion for the importance of mentoring to success in science.
NRMN Southeast Training in Puerto Rico Begins this Thursday, November 17

This week marks the beginning of NRMN's second "Southeast Training" event, hosted by NRMN through the Research Resources and Outreach Core (RROC). Participants will convene at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, and take part in any number of the scheduled events which include grantsmanship coaching sessions, mentor training workshops and training for those who aim to facilitate their own mentor training at their home institutions.

Dr. Kola Okuyemi Receives $1.5M NIH Renewal Grant for 
Cancer-Related Health Disparities Training

NRMN Principal Investigator Kola Okuyemi, MD, MPH, director of the Program in Health Disparities Research and professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota, received a $1.5 million renewal grant to educate researchers to reduce cancer-related health disparities among underserved populations.

NRMN-CAN held its 2 nd Annual Professional Development and Grantwriting Conference,
Passport to Success: From Networking to Grantsmanship, October 30 - November 1, 2016 at the Big Ten Conference Center in Rosemont, IL.

NRMN Master Facilitators Continue to Expand Capacity
The NRMN Master Facilitators Initiative now includes a cadre of 41 individuals representing 20 institutions and organizations from 12 states, DC, and Puerto Rico who help meet the national demand for culturally responsive mentorship programming. They provide mentor, mentee, and facilitator training for diverse populations across career stages, with emphasis on the biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences.
