Keeping Families Close at RMHCCIN
A Message from our CEO
A thank you note from former house guests:  The Gonsioroski Family

As our summer events wind down and we prepare for the leaves to change colors, it's important to step back and remember why we do these events.

Community events help us spread awareness of our mission and allow us to provide comfort and care to thousands of families each year. One family that was impacted by the House was the Gonsioroski's.

Seventeen-year-old Luke Gonsioroski was flown from Montana to IU Simon Cancer Center earlier this year after the return of his cancer. The Gonsioroski's found respite at our House, and we were able to provide this "home-away-from-home" to the their family because of the amazing support from the community, volunteers and partners.

Every day the Ronald McDonald House serves as a place for keeping families close and you can also be a part of our mission. Whether it's volunteering at the House, participating in a community event or providing a home-cooked meal, you can help keep families like the Gonsioroski's close.

Adopt-a-Room Partner: The Employees of Navient

The Adopt-a-Room program is a year-long sponsorship of a room or continuing care apartment at our Limestone and Riley Houses. The program provides families with much more than just a roof over their heads -- it helps to provide support, home-cooked meals and relief from their stressful situations. Most importantly, room partners are helping families focus on what matters most -- their seriously-ill or injured child.

This month, we would like to take the time to thank the employees of Navient who raised the funds through their employee run and funded "Jeans BeCause" program. Through Jeans BeCause, employees are allowed to wear jeans to work for a minimum donation of $10 per month to chariities they have nominated and voted to select. Together, more than 870 Navient employees raised over $9,000 through the month of June.

Navient employee Tami Crawford nominated Ronald McDonald House after chatting in the hospital hallway with a little girl whose family was staying at the house.  "I could instantly tell what a very valuable service Ronald McDonald House provides," said Tami, "and since then I've learned that some of our own employees' families also stayed there.  We're all connected in this community in ways we don't always recognize. My Navient colleagues and I found it very meaningful to help keep families with sick children stay close to each other."

A big RMHCCIN thank you Tami and the many incredible employees of Navient for coming together to keep our families close.
