Dear Patrons,
It's opening night for our latest production Funny Girl and our company is buzzing with excitement. Rehearsals are going well and the show looks and sounds fantastic in our beautiful new theatre. What a blessing it is to work in such a wonderful space. It's also a blessing to work with quality people. Of course I am speaking of the cast and crew of Funny Girl, but I also want to mention that none of this would happen were it not for my dedicated staff. They do the daily heavy lifting of making sure the product we work for happens on time and is ready to entertain and enrich our community. The entire focus of our company is to create cultural offerings that contribute to the quality of life here. It starts with the "product". What show, concert, ballet, opera etc... shall we offer? Who will be the artistic staff (Conductor, Stage Director, Music Director, Choreographer, Stage Manager, Various Designers in Scenic, Costumes, Props, Lighting etc...)? From there the Administrative Staff and the Technical Staff take over and start the process from conception to reality. There are so many challenges, headaches, and issues to work out because it all takes money. Now that we are in a huge space, everything is bigger: Casts, Scenery, Costumes, Orchestra, and more, such as Licensing Fees and Royalties. When you factor in the return of the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre, the demands on staff will only increase. Based on what I know of my staff, we will meet this challenge. In summary, the staff of JPAS, all 16 of them, is the reason "The Curtain Opens on Time". Thank you Nick, Valerie, Donna, Joshua, Lynne, Karel, Michelle, James, Brian, Jonathan, Kelly, Sam, Emily, Shelby, Serena and Karel. Our strength and successes are because of your dedication to our mission.
Long after that smoked turkey, spiral ham or Aunt Josie's fruit cake have disappeared, the memory of a fantastic evening of live theatre will linger on. This Christmas, Hanukkah and Holiday Season, why not give the gift of tickets to a JPAS Production? See below for Gift Certificates.
Now please enjoy the rest of our news below and remember our Veterans this November 11. Because of them, we get to do cool things like producing live performing arts.
I'll See You at The Theatre!
Sincerely,
Dennis G. Assaf

The greatest star, the ultimate people person.... the story of beloved comedienne Fanny Brice begins with her irrepressible youth in New York's Lower East Side, where the stage-struck teenager clowns her way through burlesque and vaudeville, with dreams of making it big. despite the discouragement of her friends and neighbors, who tell her that she isn't pretty enough for the stage. After meeting Nick Arnstein, a handsome and charismatic gambling man with a gentle side, Fanny immediately falls in love. And with her big break in the Ziegfeld Follies on the horizon, the stardom she has always longed for is within her grasp. Her only problem... the elusive Nick Arnstein, ignorant of her affection, is always leaving town on some "business" venture. A triumphant story of starry success and a bittersweet story of love, Jule Styne and Bob Merrill's Funny Girl is a musical theatre classic which celebrates the exuberant and elegant flavor of Broadway in the 1910s and 20s and the comic genius of Fanny Brice. Featuring such beloved songs as "People", "Don't Rain on My Parade", and "Sadie, Sadie."

Welcome to the Annual Holiday Variety Show and Christmas Pageant at St. Everybody's Non-Denominational Universalist Church, where all faiths are welcome because we'll believe anything. But there's a problem: none of the acts scheduled to perform have arrived, so three members are pressed into service to perform the entire Variety Show and Christmas Pageant by themselves. An irreverent yet heartwarming trip through the holidays, THE ULTIMATE CHRISTMAS SHOW (ABRIDGED) is festive, funny, physical, family fun as these Three Wise Guys send up and celebrate our favorite holiday traditions.
