Drama Club Registration is Still Open!
|
|
We're Having a Ball! A 50's Rock and Roll Cinderella Story is this year's Drama Club production!
Registration is for 4th and 5th grade students
only and costs $89 per student.
Registration will be entirely online and will fill quickly!
As there are only parts for 50 actors, registrations will be accepted on a
first come/first serve basis and a waiting list will be assembled in the event there are over 50. Our goal is to create a positive experience for all! While this is a
considerable commitment, your child will be able to provide a list of conflicts prior to casting allowing the directors to note availability for rehearsals when casting.

We invite you to join us for our Fall PTA Principal Coffee in the library at 8:15am on November 18th.
Principal Shearer will be highlighting work done by Puesta del Sol teachers this fall in the area of horizontal alignment, where grade level teams come together with school leadership to refine and increase our levels of coherence across grade level classrooms, particularly in the areas of academic and social-emotional supports for students. In addition, there will be an open Q&A period during the coffee. Childcare will be also be provided until 8:45, when it is time for students to head to line-up. Please join us!

Friday, November 18th in the Library
The next Passport Club Check Day will be Friday, November 18th from 9:30-11:30 am in the school library. If you would like to volunteer, please contact passportvolunteer@puestadelsolpta.org.
Fun Fact:
A ship traveling from New York to San Francisco can save 7,872 miles (12,669 km) by using the Panama Canal instead of going down around South America.
November's Special Itinerary (SI) is Algeria! Check out the SI bulletin boards in the cafeteria each month for great visual displays which contain the answers to the activities. Copies of the SI are at the bulletin boards or you can print them out online. At each monthly Check Day, there will be a small prize for completing SI projects.

Green Genius Cafeteria Challenge
|
|
November 18th is Measurement Day!
Puesta del Sol will be participating in a contest among other Bellevue schools to lessen cafeteria waste through reduction, composting and recycling. We need your help you ensure that our school brings home the win once again.
Helpful tips for parents:
- Send lunches from home in reusable containers
- Request that your child bring back Ziploc bags for reuse.
- Send your child with food that they will eat. This avoids food being wasted.
- Avoid buying items with lots of packaging.
We will be having a practice measuring day on Wednesday, November 16th.

Schoolwide Pet Food Drive - Now through Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016
|
|
Student Council is underway with a team of 25 students who will serve as student council members for the entire first semester. We had over 55 students apply and we're hoping to give each and every one of these kids some leadership opportunities during our 2016-17 school year.
Our first major community service event is a Pet Food Drive benefiting the Seattle Humane Society, 13212 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue.
Our collection of Pet Food is going on now and will run through Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016.
Bring donations to your classrooms.
We want to collect as much dog and cat food as possible. Student Council voted on an Ice Cream Sundae Party for the classroom that donates the most food (based on weight). Student Council members will collect donations, weigh them, and keep track of each classroom's total donations.
Student Council members are currently working on posters to promote this community service project. According to the Seattle Humane Society "they always need wet and dry pet food. Cat food is a slightly higher priority than dog food simply because most donors think of dogs when they think of a shelter."
Please note: Humane Society is
currently NOT accepting donations of Beneful products due to current litigation pending over the safety of these products.
