A Note From Your Kindergarten Teachers
Kindergarten Connections
October 20th, 2016

Dear Families,

Things are looking very pumpkin-tastic around here! Following Pumpkin Festival, Kindergarteners delved into pumpkin science. We used science tools to observe a variety of pumpkins and carefully drew what we saw. We also recorded our wonders - an important step before beginning experiments! Next week, we will embark on our first field tip to Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm. Please see the upcoming dates section below for important details.

Thank you so much! As always, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Your Kindergarten Teachers (Team K!)
Emily Travis, Helen Ortiz, and Sherri Trigueiro

Reminders
Don't forget!
  • Please continue to check and empty your child's take-home folder daily. This is our primary tool for communicating between home and school connection. When we begin reading groups, you'll find homework here, too!
  • We are still missing one or two heart maps for our writer's workshop folders. These pages will help our writers come up with ideas whenever they're feeling stuck.  If you haven't done so already, please send yours in.
Trash-to-Treasure
If you've got these items around the house, please bring them in!
  • Wood scraps - 2x4s 12" or longer and 3/4" plywood 12" square inches or larger

Kinder Quotes of the Week
Your kids say the greatest things!

On small spills:
"It's okay. We're scientists. Scientists don't mind if they get a little water on themselves."

Our passionate writers say...
"Can I keep writing at choice time?"

Thanks to all who were able to join us to walk in the Annual Pumpkin Festival Parade!  Special thanks to Tina Lourenco, Heather Sandel, Karen Doherty and their team for all their dedication creating the float and costumes.
