Classroom Connections
October 6th, 2016
|
|
Dear Families,
This is a very special week!
We are tremendously excited to welcome you to campus this
Thursday, October 6th and Friday, October 7th
for
Mid-Trimester Conferences
. This is also a very busy time for teachers as we carefully prepare to meet with each of you and provide you with insightful feedback to set individual learning goals for your child. As you know, it's our goal to keep you informed of what's happening at our school at all times, and no doubt you will hear from us this week, but this newsletter is special. We came together as a team and created a Classroom Connections, just for this week, that includes everything you need to know beside conferences. Fall has also arrived, so you will start noticing
orange taking over!
Sincerely,
Your Teachers

HMB Pumpkin Festival - Volunteers needed!
|
We are looking forward to having a tremendous entry in the
Pumpkin Festival Parade this year! We are creating an Ocean themed entry and are looking for volunteers to help build the float, create costumes and participate in the parade. The float will be constructed after school on
Tuesday, October 11th through
Thursday, October 13th and during the day of
Friday, October 14th.
Sign up here to help out. If you have any questions, please email
Tina Lourenco
.
The Parade is
Saturday, October 15th at noon. Please meet us in front of 515 Church Street at 11:00 a.m. We will march together and show our school spirit! Wear Halloween costumes, or Sea Crest gear, and bring the whole family!
We provide our parking lot during Pumpkin Fest as a valuable fundraiser and also need volunteers to help out on
Sunday, October 16th
. Click here to sign up. Thank you for your support!

We will be hosting our next Earthquake Drill on Tuesday, October 18th, 8:45 a.m. You will receive an email and a call or text from our system on this day, and it will likely come from a Portland, OR phone number. The system will attempt to reach all home and mobile numbers listed and will leave voicemails if no one answers. If you have any questions after the drill, please contact us at
[email protected]

We will begin our Halloween Celebration on Monday, October 31st with a K-8 Assembly in the gym at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Costume Parade across the blacktop and around the field. Parents are welcome to attend. This will be a great opportunity for students to showcase their costumes and for parents to take photos!
All students should come to school in their costumes. Please make sure to pack a labeled bag and extra clothes for them to change and participate in regular school activities after the festivities.
As a reminder, we are a K-8 community and students are asked to wear dress code appropriate costumes. Please remember to leave weapons and/or other costume props that violate school rules at home. We will be sending out more details in the Currents next week.

Sea Crest School Parent Association is pleased to announce a new parent education series. We are planning informative events designed to support parents in helping each child thrive academically, socially and behaviorally.
Our first annual theme is
"Parenting in a Digital Age." Based on many parents' input, we're selecting topics and speakers, along with formats and times that appeal to many families.
Aligned to the school's work with Common Sense Education on digital citizenship, this parent education series is designed to help Sea Crest families tackle some of the most challenging issues in raising happy and health and successful kids.
Watch the Currents email for more details. We hope to see you at these events and are eager to hear your feedback!
Sincerely,
Heidi
