Company Matching - PTSA or ASB?

There are two different organizations that help to support Redmond Middle School.  Redmond Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is one and Redmond Middle School Associated Student Body (ASB) is the other.  Both organizations operate under a specific set of laws in Washington state that regulate what we can do to support our school and students. Please be very careful when filling out your company matching information to ensure that the matching funds are directed to the organization who received your donation.

If you recently donated to:
*Fund the Grizzlies event, select Redmond Middle School ASB.
*PTSA Pass the Hat  campaign, select Redmond Middle School PTSA.

In some systems, you may see the school listed under its former name Redmond Junior High. Regardless, it is the end of the name that counts.

ASB (Associated Student Body) for donations towards cultural, athletic, recreational, and social activities.
PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) for donations towards the support of curriculum, academic enrichment, scholarships, etc.

Help Make Trick or Treating Fun for All

As disability awareness month draws to a close, we want to make sure that all children can enjoy their Trick or Treating experience.  Please keep the following in mind as you greet Trick or Treat-ers at your door on Halloween:

-the child that is grabbing more  than one piece of candy may have poor fine motor skills,
-the child that takes forever to pick out a piece of candy may have motor planning issues,
-the child that does not say trick or treat or thank you may be non-verbal,
-the child that looks disappointed when they see your bowl might have an allergy or is diabetic,
-the child that is not wearing a costume at all might have a sensory issue or autism.

Thanks for helping make this a fun event that all kids can enjoy!

ACADEMIC NEWS

RMS Library Seeking Games, Legos & Books
Books are great, but the kids love to do more than read in the library!  Please consider donating Legos and thinking games (like those found at Marbles the Brain Store) for them to enjoy.  RMS also has a Book Wish List at Amazon.

Plus, if the purchase is made through Amazon Smile, credit can be given to  Redmond Middle School PTSA 2 8 80, which means that more funds will go to supporting classroom grants at the school!

You shop.  Amazon gives!

Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice.  (Redmond Middle School PTSA 2 8 80, of course!)

E XTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Jr.

It was fun to meet all the kids last Thursday! Just a reminder that applications are being accepted and due today, Monday, October 24th! We are not double-casting this production like we did last year, so participation is limited to the first 50 students who turn in their form and the $125 fee  on Monday (scholarships available.) Based on previous years, it is highly likely that the spots will fill up quickly!

We also have opportunities for about 20 students to work in backstage tech roles on the show, in fields such as set design, props, costuming and makeup. The application for tech roles is the same as the application for show roles; be sure to check off the box for "Production."The fee for participation in tech is $40 (scholarships available.)

On Thursday, October 27th at 7pm, there will be a mandatory parent meeting in the RMS library. Here, parents can find out more about the show, meet the director, and sign up to volunteer on a committee. Per PTSA bylaws, two registered parent or community volunteers must be at every rehearsal. Please consider the possible time commitment when registering your child for the musical.

Auditions will be held Tuesday, November 1st and Wednesday, November 2nd.
Callbacks are on Thursday Nov 3 and Friday Nov 4
Every one of the 50 accepted students will be cast in the show, the auditions are used to determine which role the students get.
More details about auditions will be emailed to the families enrolled in the production.

Please email  drama@rmsptsa.org with further questions.
