Dallas County Democratic Party
Weekly Roundup
Democratic news from Dallas County
 and beyond.
Wednesday November 9 2016
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!

Thanks to all of the people who have voted for, worked for, campaigned for, and contributed to the Democratic ticket here in Dallas County. Because of all of you, we did well here, including electing at least one new State Representative (Victoria Neave in HD107) and winning all of our county-wide races once again.

You can see the election results for Dallas County at this page:

Statewide results and those for districts which cross county lines are at this page:

Nationally the Republicans surprised all the pollsters and everyone else (including themselves) by squeaking out a tiny and minority victory for President. It was so narrow that at this writing, not every close state has finished counting yet! The final count is likely to show that the Democratic ticket actually got more popular votes, but lost in the electoral college. (This would make two times that has happened to us in 16 years -- anyone else for abolishing the electoral college?)

Early in the morning as it became clear the count would go on, the Clinton watch event in New York sent gathered supporters home. Later when the Republicans carried enough states, Hillary Clinton called their candidate to congratulate him, and this morning she gave a speech of concession. Last night, well before the evening was through, she posted this message and picture on her site:
