  Our Program for Tuesday, October 25

We will hear about the Wenatchee Valley Tech and Skills Center from Director Pete Jelsing.

Pete Jelsing

Wenatchee Valley Tech is...
  • An extension of your local high school located at an off-campus training site.
  • An opportunity for high school aged students to receive highly technical job training.
  • An opportunity to get a jump-start on a post secondary education, apprenticeships, technical and two/four year colleges or universities.
  • Preparation for immediate entry-level employment.
  • Staffed by outstanding instructors from industry with many years of experience in their fields.
  • The College Connection - We work closely with Wenatchee Valley College to provide advanced placement and credits for high school students. Currently many programs are connected to post secondary training.

In 2026 Lake Chelan Rotary will be celebrating its 100th anniversary and one of my goals for 2016 as president was to start planning for a major project that would benefit the community.  To recap the process we have dedicated a meeting to member ideas for projects, had a subcommittee evaluate the member project suggestions and then had the board decide what we would do to celebrate 2026.  The consensus was to move forward with a Rotary park project for the community.  At the last board meeting Tim Hollingsworth presented a possible site for the project near the Chelan Reach Trail just below Chelan Butte.  The land is currently owned by the PUD and has a land use designation that would work for a park project.  Next steps will be to determine if this is the right site for our 100th anniversary park project.  The board has dedicated a budget line item to start saving funds for the park and a next step is to assign a Rotary member who would be interested in taking the lead on this project.

Lake Views was informed this week that the Leavenworth Rotaryfest 2016, scheduled for November 5, has been canceled.  Many of the Lake Chelan Rotarians have attended this great event and will sorely miss it this year.

But...why not replace it with the Cashmere Rotary Auction also scheduled on November 5.  For tickets and information contact Cashmere Rotarian Dick Ryan at 679-1706.

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF A COMMUNITY SERVICE TEAM?

Do you want to be the odd person out?  Of course not! It is the Board's hope that all members will get involved with Community Service.  If you have not done so please talk to Ty Witt our Community Service leader.  The more we do - the more people in your community will benefit. Sign up at any meeting,  VP Ty Witt as will work to accommodate your schedule and availability.

Club Service

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and in particular, to encourage and foster:

  • The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
  • High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations and the dignifying of each Rotarians' occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • The application of the ideal of service in one's personal, business and community life;
  • The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
Five Avenues of Service support the Object of Rotary:
  • Club Service
  • Vocational Service
  • Community Service
  • International Service
  • Youth Service
Club Service deals with internal activities that help our club function effectively. It arises from the very first point in the Object of Rotary.

Becoming an active member is vital to becoming a Rotarian so your participation in club meetings; fellowship and social events are very important elements. The Club newsletter; Club website; and bringing great programs to our weekly meetings also play a significant role in keeping members informed and enthused.

We are pleased to see you attending regularly.  With which committee(s) have you decided to participate?

Do You Wonder how your Attendance has been?

Our attendance chair and Board Member Rick Nedrow keeps meticulous attendance records.  Take at look:   12 month attendance report 2016-2017.
