"I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders"
(Psalm 9:1).
At this time of Thanksgiving, the Chaminade Julienne community has many things for which to be thankful so far this school year. These are just a few:
-
Classrooms full of outstanding students eager to learn;
-
Outstanding teachers, staff, and coaches committed to our mission of serving your sons and daughters;
-
Wonderful support and encouragement from our alumni, parents, Dayton community, and our sponsors, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and the Marianists;
-
Our highest enrollment in eight years;
-
The opening of the newly renovated CJ auditorium (already the scene of a spectacular opening concert and well-attended fall play) and dedication of Roger Glass Stadium - Home of the Chaminade Julienne Eagles; and,
-
The successful conclusion of LIFT - Leading in Faith Today, the most ambitious campaign in school history.
We are grateful for our students and their families who help to make CJ a place of warmth and welcome for all. From our families to yours, may you have a very blessed Thanksgiving holiday!

From the Chaplain's Office
The 13th century German mystic, Meister Eckhart, once wrote, "If the only prayer you ever say is 'Thank you,' it will be enough." As we take a break and celebrate Thanksgiving Day with turkey and all the fixings, let's also take some time to say "Thank You" to our Good God who has given us so much. I encourage you to spend a few moments - maybe as a family around the dinner table - listing all those things for which you are thankful. I think you'll be amazed by all the good things God has done for you.
Happy New Year! This may sound like a strange greeting in November, but this Sunday marks the beginning of the Season of Advent and a new liturgical year in the Church. Advent is a time of preparation, not only for the celebration of Christmas, but also to welcome Christ into our hearts. How will you prepare? Here are some suggestions:
- join us for mass at 7:20 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday in the CJ Chapel;
- receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation;
- spend a few moments in silence each morning or evening; and,
- read one chapter from the Gospel of Matthew each day (28 days of Advent = 28 chapters of Matthew!)
Whatever you do, be assured that you will be in our prayers as we journey through this holy season together as a community of faith.

Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week Update
Thank You!
Thank you to all of our students and families who contributed to our donation drive this past week. We collected over $2,700 which will go to Catholic Relief Services to aid all those in Haiti affected by last month's hurricane. And close to 3,000 items were collected, which will be donated locally to the Food Bank, Inc. and St. Vincent de Paul. Because we surpassed our goal, we will have a day off school later in the year (date to be determined).
In raising awareness with our students about hunger and homelessness in our world, our hope is that as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, our students will also be reminded to give thanks for their many blessings. So let us all...
"Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus."
I Thessalonians

Wright Scholar Research Assistant Program
Applications Due Before Monday, Jan. 9
Qualified juniors and seniors are strongly encouraged to apply for this competitive program. The number of CJ students accepted in recent years has grown. It is a tremendous paid summer internship program at WPAFB for juniors and seniors, right in our own backyard! It is a commitment, for an entire summer, but well worth it, to introduce students to many STEMM career fields.
Start early on your application, and request letters of recommendation before Christmas break! Learn more here.
