Village-wide Traffic Calming Update

Update on the New Traffic Circle Project
As many of you already know, construction of the new traffic circle at the intersection of SW 168th Street and 82nd Avenue started last week.

In an effort to complete the project with as little disruption to the Palmetto Bay residents as possible, the contractor has agreed to work extra hours to get the work done quickly. So far, workers have made great progress on the construction and are poised to get enough of the work done by Monday to open the circle during rush hour periods, weather permitting.

Some of the aesthetic features of the circle such as landscaping will probably not be completed by Monday, but are expected to be completed within the next few weeks. During the non rush-hour time, while the remaining construction activities are underway, access to the circle will be limited and the traffic detours will be once again implemented.

Commuters should exercise caution when traveling around the area and allow extra time to reach their destination. Please obey all posted signs and speed limits and refrain from removing or relocating any traffic or detour signs as this can result in a potential collision. More project updates will continue to be posted to our website and on our social media channels.

The project is a partnership between the Village and Miami-Dade County and it is expected to facilitate the flow of traffic particularly during the morning and afternoon rush hour. We appreciate your patience as the project moves forward to completion. If you have any questions, please contact our Public Services Department or visit our Traffic & Transit webpage for more information.
FDOT Project Update (Coral Reef Drive)
NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN:  All traffic on SW 152 Street/Coral Reef Drive from just west of SW 93 Avenue to just west of SW 97 Avenue has been shifted to the north side of the roadway. The westbound and eastbound travel lanes have been reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the northside of the roadway. This traffic pattern will be in effect for approximately five weeks to allow the contractor to repair the south section of the bridge over the C-100 Canal.

Wednesday, August 8 through Friday, August 18 – There will be alternating single lane closures on Coral Reef Drive/SW 152 Street from US-1 to Florida’s Turnpike between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. to allow the contractor to reconstruct sections of sidewalks and pedestrian ramps.

Please note that this schedule may change due to bad weather or other unforeseen conditions.

For more information, please call FDOT’s Public Information Office at 305-470-5349 or Construction Public Information Specialist Oscar Gonzalez at 786-280-0983 or go to the website at www.fdotmiamidade.com .

Drivers are encouraged to call 511 before they travel or log on to www.fl511.com to get real-time traffic and lane closure information. FDOT would like to remind drivers that wearing a safety belt is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce fatalities in motor vehicle crashes. Please drive cautiously in construction zones.
