The new school year brings new events, workshops and opportunities. We would like to thank everyone involved in our activities during the 2016-2017 school year and we look forward to working with you again this year.
 
We would like to congratulate Lori Morton, Office of Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Business Engagement Coordinator, on her new job! As of July 31, 2017 Lori is serving as the Career Pathways Engagement Manager for Tulare County Office of Education. Lori's responsibilities as the FCSS Business Engagement Coordinator have been distributed throughout the FCSS CTE/ROP management staff.
Due to high demand, the CDE is offering additional Career Technical Education (CTE) Course Mapping workshops in August and September.

These workshops are intended for district and school-level staff at the LEA that have a knowledge of local CTE course content and sequences, as well as those individuals who are responsible for creating these courses in the master schedule (i.e., District Administrator, Site Administrator, CTE Coordinator, CTE Lead Teacher, Counselor, and District Staff).
CalCRN Update
Training videos are available on the CalCRN website (under "Training Videos" tab) to introduce users to CalCRN resources. There are videos for each of CalCRN's core resources as well as videos describing the content in each grade level of the Career and College Readiness Lesson Plans.
 
The developers of the California CareerZone, Headed2, have revamped the "Interest Profiler". The Interest Profiler is where students begin their personalized career planning journey by identifying what inspires them. This year's conference will focus on the many factors which determine a CTE student's educational journey and most importantly, how it reflects our own professional frame. We will explore and share effective strategies to include academic preparation, social-emotional learning, and career readiness. We will have discussions about current trends, policies and research, as well as innovative models and approaches from a range of experts to support and improve positive equitable student outcomes.

This school year, educators from across the state worked together with peer reviewers, curriculum development consultants and subject matter specialists to develop 332 Standards-aligned lesson plans in CTE and core academic subject areas, 68 new STEM Integrated and PBL Projects and new Model Course Outline lesson plans.

They have lessons on everything from how to design your own food truck to an introduction on creating e-textiles.
