August 15 E-News

Transitions
Dear Parishioners of St. Peter's,
Your Vestry is continuing to interview priest-in-charge candidates. At the services this past Sunday, August 13th, Joey Rick, Canon for Congregational Vitality, explained that there were many, well qualified candidates who applied for our priest-in-charge position. Consequently, the anticipated time required for Vestry interviews is longer. Good progress is being made, however.
Vacation Bible School is scheduled for August 28th - September 1st. If you can help out
with teaching, snack preparation or decorating, contact Carol Bailer at (301) 874-8475.

I know it's the middle of August, but now it's time to start thinking about September!
Starting on September 10th, we will resume the fall worship schedule as follows:
8:00 AM Early Service
9:05-9:55 AM Formation for All Ages
10:00 AM Later Service

Sunday School Registration will be held on September 3rd, September 10th and September 17th. Registration forms can be found in the foyer of the church.

And finally, don't forget that our Harvest Hoedown is September 9th from 6:00 - 11:00
PM. You can help raise funds for our parish in numerous ways such as volunteering
to help set-up, decorate, or donating items for the silent auction and last, but no less
important, attending and having a good time! Our next fundraiser meeting is August
27th after the 9:30 service.

In faith,
Mary Pat Wilson
Making a Difference
Cherubs Music
Cherubs Music is a free program to teach kids about music! They learn the basics of reading music, playing instruments and singing. This year we are splitting into a cherubs class and a chimers class. Cherubs are 3 and 4 years old and play only percussion instruments. Chimers are 5 and 6 years old and play percussion instruments and hand bells! Meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 pm at St. Peter's. Call the office for more information or to sign up! • Our playground is getting renovated! In preparation for the nursery school we are building a new playground for Saint Peter's. While this is in progress the playground is closed. Each Summer St. Peter's offers a Vacation Bible School, which is open to the entire community. Children learn Bible stories, important biblical themes, sing songs, make crafts, and play games. We end the week with a short program, so parents, friends and families can hear some of the themes that their children learned during the week as well as enjoy the songs that were sung during the week. Register now online, on the app, or get a paper form at church.
  • Have a youth in (upcoming) grades 6-12?  Youth Group will be meeting regularly for connection and formation on Sunday mornings this fall from 9:00-10:00.  We will also be planning fun outings and gatherings with other Episcopal youth groups in the area.  Make sure your family and youth are on the youth group e-mail and contact list! Contact Katie Longbrake at klongbrake@gmail.com or 240-477-0414 or the church office.  We send out information via e-mail and will be also sending reminders via text to the youth so please make sure we have that information.
