Regional Update                            Volume 2016  Issue 1

Introducing Seth Barnett
Newest Member of Regional Relations
and Member Engagement Team

Seth Barnett Seth Barnett has joined the Regional Relations and Member Engagement team as PPAI's first Diversity Development and Engagement Manager after serving the Association for three years as its Government Relations Manager.

Seth will focus on the strategic integration of demographic diversity in the industry. This will ensure that PPAI, its members and the industry as a whole are prepared for the economic shift by developing best practices in hiring, developing and retaining young talent; creating new ways to educate young leaders about the possibilities of working in the industry; and helping our businesses learn about the changing buyer market. It is the goal of this new Association role to establish long-term plans to address potential future industry demographic shifts so that the industry is able to meet these challenges before they become reality using continuous research, both inside and out of the industry; conversations with industry leaders; and education throughout the business community.

"I'm excited to be working with a great group of people in the Regional Relations and Member Engagement department and looking forward to opportunities to collaborate with this team," says Seth.

The regional community is encouraged to review the in-person education offerings that Seth has created surrounding the topic of generational demographics:

PAPPA Offers Head Shots

PAPPA Head Shot
The PAPPA Board thought that the head shot opportunity offered at LDW was an excellent idea and wanted to share that experience with members. PAPPA contracted with a professional photographer to work our Springfield, PA, Winter Showcase during the 10 am to 2 pm show hours. We offered the head shots free to members as an added benefit of membership and charged soon-to-be-members $25 which could be deducted from their annual dues if they signed up for membership.

Forty members preregistered for this service and we ended up photographing 65 individuals by the end of the day. The photographer had proofs out to all participants by Friday. PAPPA has received numerous thank you and well done comments regarding this service.

MiPPA Members Sign Up for Education

"MiPPA is constantly looking for ways to deliver more value for our members. We ask our members what topics they want and then create programs to fill those needs," stated President John Bates. So, MiPPA created MiPPA University, a series of  high-level courses offered throughout the year.  On  Tuesday, February 16, 32 people new to the industry participated in Promotional Products 101, a six-hour boot camp for industry "newbies."

MiPPA University 2016
Presenter MiPPA Executive Director and PPAI Hall of Fame inductee Paul Kiewiet, MAS+, shared his more than 30 years' of industry experience with the class.

The course included an interactive Skype call with PPAI CEO Paul Bellantone, CAE; a Lunch and Learn with five supplier members; and a case study to learn how to collaborate with suppliers for idea generation as well as the history and culture of the industry, a glossary of industry terms, descriptions of other important industry stakeholders and an explanation of how this channel of distribution works.

Phil Rood, president of LogoSpot, sent three of his new people and was impressed by how quickly they applied what they learned.  "My group learned some valuable info at the education yesterday.  They were putting it to use today!" he wrote.  A participant said, "I enjoyed the expansive look at our industry and came away with a much better understanding of the goals and challenges of selling promotional products."
Did You See Our Message?
Q1 Co-op Marketing Campaign
Rolls Royce
Have you noticed our first quarter PPAI Regional Association Marketing Campaign message? We are continuing this campaign begun last year that uses iconic partnerships to promote the importance of membership in  both PPAI and the regional association.

A different "What If" message appears each quarter.  We ask that you run a concurrent campaign to your members (there's no obligation to do so); the more brand awareness we create by working together, the more effective these campaigns will be!
