Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Heather Heyer and the entire Charlottesville, VA community, especially the Jewish community - who all experienced a horrific display of hatred, bigotry, anti-semitism, violence and racism last weekend. We condemn, in the strongest terms possible, this scourge of white supremacy, white nationalism and neo-nazism that has reared its ugly and evil head in our great, diverse and tolerant country. May we all see better days with peace and co-existence ahead.

Dear Friends,
We hope everyone is enjoying their summer. We are gearing up and planning for another exciting year of programming here at the Young Israel of Scarsdale. As we look ahead to next year we would like to put together a more complete YIS Youth Directory, which we would then share with the community. This directory would be in a spreadsheet that can be organized by alphabetical name, grade, school and more. We hope that this will allow parents to access information about the youth in our community with greater ease. Most importantly, this will allow all of us to be more inclusive of children in our child's grade and birth year; and will enable us as a community to wish your children a happy birthday on selected Shabbatot. Additionally, this will also allow our rabbinic staff and youth directors to more effectively communicate our programs to you and your children.
Just to clarify, we will NOT be including the middle schoolers and high schoolers personal contact information in the directory that will be sent to parents. That information (phone number, email, etc.) will only be utilized by our rabbinic staff and youth directors to communicate directly with them.
In order for this initiative to succeed we need full participation and we ask that you take a few minutes to fill out this Google form. Please note that a separate form should be filled out for each of your children. Additionally, we are looking for volunteers to serve as a 'class parent' for each age group who would review the submissions in their group to ensure that we have full participation. If you would like to volunteer please email Rabbi Klinger ([email protected]).
We thank you so much in advance and look forward to sharing this information with you soon!
