December Donations to Help the Community
Giving Tree
The Senior High Student Council is collecting NEW hats, scarves, and mittens for those in need in our community. Items can be placed on the Giving Tree in the lobby at York Catholic until December 22.

Coat Drive
The National Honor Society is collecting gently used coats for their Coat Drive.  A box will be in the lobby throughout the month of December until December 22. The coats will be donated to the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry.

Toys for Ronald McDonald House
Students are currently collecting Christmas presents for the children who are patients at Hershey Medical Center, in remembrance of Jacob Gurrerri. Parents of the children at Hershey will be able to choose some gifts and have them "delivered" on Christmas Eve.

Quick Links

Chris Gurreri, a YC graduate, is coordinating this toy drive in memory of his brother Jacob, who was five-years-old when he died 11 years ago. The Gurreri family was fortunate enough to stay in the Ronald McDonald House during the three weeks that Jacob was being treated at Hershey Medical Center.

The Ronald McDonald House offers the following gift ideas:
  • Toys
  • Stuffed animals
  • Coloring books and crayons/markers
  • Arts and crafts items
  • Books
  • Board games
  • Children's movies (Disney, Christmas)
  • Action figures
  • Dolls/Barbies
  • Legos
  • Christmas stockings/Stocking stuffers
  • Hats and gloves
  • Blankets
Students are asked to have all toys to their homerooms by the morning of Friday, December 16. Thank you for your generosity this holiday season in helping to make Christmas a little brighter for the children who are in the hospital.
"Values Matter" at York Catholic
We want to remind you that York Catholic will be taking part in this year's #GivingTuesday one day online philanthropy campaign on November 29. It's easy (and fun) to get caught up in the consumerism of the holiday season with days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. That's why a day dedicated to giving and doing good for others, like #GivingTuesday, is so important!

This year we hope to raise more than $15,000 for York Catholic's Annual Fund.

In case you'll be unavailable, or unable to donate on #GivingTuesday, we encourage you to donate now through our online donation page as part of the fundraising effort.

Please support York Catholic's Annual Fund with your online donation by clicking here and please share this message with friends and family!

Thanks for your support of a York Catholic education where "Values Matter."
Phone System Under Construction
During Thanksgiving break, our phone system is being replaced and voicemail service will not be available during the transition.  We appreciate your patience and encourage you to email [email protected] with messages until Wednesday, November 30.
Sophomore Retreat

The Sophomores will be on Retreat on   Thursday, December 1 , at Temple Beth Israel and at the York Jewish Community Center.

The students will be learning about the Holocaust and about modern Judaism as an enrichment to their study of Scripture this year in Religion class.

Please remember the Class of 2019 in your prayers as they prepare for a day with each other and with our Jewish brothers and sisters.
Senior High Coffee House

Students in grades 9-12 are invited to enjoy an evening of music, food, and fellowship at the Senior High Coffee House Friday, December 2, at 7 PM.  Student musicians and singers will perform in a relaxed atmosphere. The price of admission is one non-perishable food item to be donated to the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry.
Winter Sports Pictures
Winter sports teams are scheduled to have team and individual pictures taken on Wednesday, November 30, and Thursday, December 1. The coaches will let the teams know the times they are assigned.

Coaches will distribute the order forms prior to picture day. On those order forms, you will be able to purchase team photos, along with several different individual packages. If you want the photos to be touched up, please check the appropriate box on the form. The forms must be returned with payment to the photographer on the assigned picture day (Nov 30 or Dec 1).

If the forms are misplaced, please click here and use Picture Day ID: MJ066624X0 (the last digit is a zero) to place your order.  Print the receipt and have your child present it to the photographer on picture day.

When the completed photo packages are delivered by Lifetouch, they will be given to the coaches to distribute to those who placed orders.
Businesses Giving Back to YC
During this holiday season, there are two places who are giving back to YC for every dollar you spend.

Amazon Smile
If you typically do any of your Christmas shopping online at amazon.com, go to www.smile.amazon.com instead and the Amazon Smile Foundation will donate .5% of eligible AmazonSmile purchases to York Catholic's Student Aid and Endowment Fund.  Simply select York Catholic as the recipient of the donation when making your purchase. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know -- same products, same prices, same service -- with an added benefit for your favorite cause.

Giant A+
Giant's A+ School Rewards program offers schools like York Catholic a unique opportunity to receive a percentage of sales made by YC families.  Participation in this program does not deduct personal bonus points from your individual Giant card. In fact, it allows you to leverage those hard earned points to do good for YC!  Please consider registering your bonus card account and be sure to select York Catholic as your beneficiary. If you've already registered your Bonus Card number in this program, thank you! If you have not registered your card, you can do so by visiting  http://giantfoodstores.com/aplus/register-card/ .   If you wish to register and would like assistance, please submit your bonus card number to Alexandra at  [email protected] .

These are two great ways for YC to earn thousands in free money.  Thank you for your support!
In Case You Missed It... Giving Thanks
Father Jon's homily during our Thanksgiving Mass yesterday reminded us to be thankful for our blessings.  When faced with challenging times, Father encouraged us to seek the good and be thankful and appreciative of all of the gifts we have received from our Lord. Father  encouraged us to reflect on Psalm 103. At this time of Thanksgiving, let us all express our thanks to God and to each other.  Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the YC Family!
