Dear Nice Saint Luke's Presbyterians,

As you know, Saint Luke's decided to experiment this summer with moving the time of our sanctuary worship up to 10:30am. The experiment was based on strong themes in extensive feedback collected from our families with children and youth, who noted an increasing incompatibility between 11am worship and the many Sunday afternoon activities in our area.

In general, the change appears to have been well received. Summer sanctuary worship attendance has been stronger than expected, and the strength has included church families. Many people have already described the new sanctuary worship time as either "preferable" or "worth it for the benefits to families."

The drawbacks to the change, as anticipated, have been a shorter allotted Sunday School hour and less time for coffee, treats, and fellowship. While these drawbacks are not insignificant, we do expect they can be minimized or overcome with additional attention and adaptation.

While the schedule experiment runs through September 24th, the Session will be discerning and deciding whether to make this change permanent. While many have offered feedback on the change already, please consider offering yours as well by emailing me at davidlower@slpres.org

Thank you for your patience and adaptability as we seek to find the best rhythms for our life of worship and study together!

For those of you that would like to be a part of a carpool either as a rider or as a driver, just show up in the parking lot on the Manhasset side on Sunday evening.
