BACK OF BUS TO FRONT OF PRISON
 
The Shura Council is pleased to welcome Prof. Michelle Alexander, author of The New Jim Crow and Dr. Maha Hilal, Executive Director of the National Coalition to Protect Civil Freedoms, on Saturday, December 3, 2016, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Our event, " From the Back of the Bus to the Front of the Prison" will give attendees important insight into today's prison system. 

Tickets are $15 online here, until Nov. 30th. Then tickets will be sold at-the-door at $20 each. Please reserve your seat now! We also will have limited copies of "The New Jim Crow" available for a $25 donation.

More than 1 million Muslims are registered to vote.  Do your part and vote today, Nov. 8th! We have important choices to make in the national and local races, many of which will affect our day-to-day lives. 

Remember to vote Yes on Prop. 62 and NO on Prop. 66, let's end the death penalty in California.

The Shura Council urges youth, ages 18 - 40 to sign up for our new youth leadership program, Young Inspirers (YI) This is a one-year fellowship program for young adults to learn from experienced professionals and give back to their communities. Click here to learn more and apply .

A Tennessee mother tries once again to have textbooks with curriculum including Islam removed. Our Muslim Speakers Network compliments the Social Studies curriculum by speaking to students about Islam and answering their questions. Teachers can request a presentation here or you can learn to become a certified speaker here. Also, you can donate here to help expand the program.

The  first cadet in hijab  settles in at Norwich University in Vermont, a private military college, UC Berkeley Muslimahs, beyond the hijab and Cover Girl announces its  first Muslim  beauty ambassador.
